Default Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), Yes or No?

As the title says, is it a must (especially if you are a driving enthusiast and plan to spec your 991.2 with a 7-speed MT)?

I am pretty certain that it is *not* possible to 'delete' PTV from your car even if you wanted to, pretty much every 911 I can think of has an LSD (which is what PTV is)

It's an option in the configurator, so now I'm completely confused, Larry Cable. Help!

Actually, just figured out it is an option on base cars, but standard on the S models. Stil don't know if it is a must or not on the Targa 4 I'm spec'ing out. Thoughts?

I am not seeing any PTV options on either the 911 or the S ... the LSD is an integral part of the rear axle/transmission/drivetrain

I've currently got a Targa 4 open and it is an option. Maybe it's just a Targa base thing.

it appears that its only an option on 4WD cars ... my guess is that the 4wd system already has some degree of torque vectoring at least between the f/r of the car if not also l/r.

If you are interested in the best handling then I would definitely spec your car with PTV

LSD is included on 7MT PTV cars. the PTV part is the function that uses brakes on the inside wheel on corners, which is separate from the LSD function (locks the diff when too much differential spin between left/right wheel).

The PDK version comes with PTV+ which has an eDiff (computer controls the locking of the diff), but still has the electronic controlled braking of inside wheel.

You are right that you cannot delete PTV from an LSD car, unfortunately.

turns out surprisingly that it *is* an option on the 4WD variants probably because the base 4WD torque distribution system fulfills/subsumes much of
the function of the LSD (which is required on a 2WD/RWD variant)

Interesting, so you can option PTV w/o LSD/eDiff? or vice versa?

I thought the 4WD system is just a multi plate clutch diff that goes front to rear, then a diff in front? Maybe they assumed the front wheels vector torque enough?

its all very sketchy, so I am extrapolating wildly from a small amount of superficial information on the configurator, but it looks as though PTV and
PTV+ are options for the 4 and Targa 4; PTV being the mechanical LSD,
PTV+ being the eLSD+braking. Seems everyone else gets one or the other regardless (2, 2S, 4S...)

991.1 Gen base car has an open diff. Not sure about the 991.2. From a quick glance at the configurator it appears that RWS may have replaced PTV. Not 100% sure yet.

Guess I was wrong. Still don't see it on the configurator.

How long do rear brake pads last on PTV-equipped cars when driven on the track? Is it defeatable somehow?

PTV is an option on the C4.
PTV+ comes with the C4S.
Reason I got a C4S.
Not defeatable.
As to rear pads, have completed three DE events, no problems so far.
Subjectively on a tight hairpin, I feel the car actually rotate compared to my Boxster.
It's a unique sensation which may or may not be relevant but I wasn't expecting the sensation and the only thing I can describe it to is PTV+.-Richard
