Default Better pictures of my new Targa 4S

6 days and 400 miles into the experience. I won't bother commenting on the handling/braking/steering because that's been described at length by people far better more qualified than me to assess it. Had a bad rattle and vibration; excellent job by the technicians at Porsche Barrington (aka Motor Werks) in isolating and correcting the problems. Power delivery is excellent if non-linear, and IMHO those discussing turbo lag are just looking for something to complain about. As much as I like manually using the paddles on PDK, for 95% of driving that transmission does an absolutely amazing job of finding the right gear.

The technology of PCM is overkill. I can't make up my mind whether I like Apple Car Play or not, as use of it negates some other features. I can say that Siri absolutely kills it for voice control, even at speed with the top down. The Porsche voice control is awful. You can spend hours configuring the whole system to your liking. Having bought the Bose system, I quickly rediscovered what I already knew: I hate surround processing. It makes the sound too bright and artificial. I turned it off, set bass and treble both to "2" and fader to -6 (rear bias) and I'm fairly pleased. Those with high quality source files might prefer the Burmester but for the standard AAC iTunes downloaded files the Bose does a pretty good job. Porsche PCM Connect (not Car Connect, which to the best of my assessment is fairly useless) is cool for transferring destinations to the car's navigation system, especially if they're embedded into appointments on your calendar, but the app has to be opened up on the phone every time you want to use it. I set one of the "My Screen" displays to show my frequently called contacts (an example of a feature negated by the use of Apple CarPlay), yet they somehow disappeared. Reset it and so far all is good.

Concluding with the obvious, Porsche is in a class by itself combining sports car fun with true usability.

Very nice. That back end shot is epic.

Do you like your multi screen function set-up? I'd suggest you swap the current coolant temp for oil temp, since that's more critical, and severely lags coolant.

With the top down, are you getting considerable air buffeting in the cabin? Some say it is more so than in a cab.

I think it's less than a cab, and tolerable even at highway speeds.

That's a good idea. There's a coolant gauge right next to it anyway.

Can you elaborate on the source of the rattle and the nature of the resolution?

The car looks spectacular, I'm really glad you are enjoying it!
Very elegant build you put together.

Yeah, we have a few duplicate gauges. But I think the digital ones are faster to read. And we have like 3 or 4 clocks!

Not entirely sure. I was told there was a loose panel that was corrected as well as the infamous plastic trim piece on the crossbar behind the rear seat which was either replaced or attached properly, I'm not sure which. Sorry I can't be of more help.

This actually brings up a pet peeve of mine. In most dealerships it is impossible to speak directly to the tech; the description of the problem gets filtered through and often miscommunicated by the service writer (to clarify, this did not happen here.) At my Ferrari dealer I knew all the techs and could tell them the issues above and beyond the brief description provided by the service manager on the work order.

I shall henceforth refer to that piece as the "rattle/creak bar."

Mine was ridiculously noisy but when I padded it with fuzzy velcro it quieted right down.

Would you be able to post a picture of where you padded it?
