Burning Brakes
This is a great thread. I have a PDK 991.1 with heated MF wheel, and after much deliberation have decided that the MF and heating are too important to me to lose, in spite of the smaller wheel's being preferable in looks and feel. I am therefore ordering a Techart paddle conversion for my MF buttons, so I shall have the second best of all worlds!

Looks like there are 2 airbags for the new style wheel. Does anyone know if either one will fit the GT Sport wheel?

I'm sure only one is the correct one. In this case, the more $ one probably.

After @SHADOW993 kindly discovered that all the new style airbags fit the wheel and connectors without any errors, I investigated the macan vs 911 airbag choice further.
I spoke with Luke to explain that any of these airbags fit the wheel and connector. What he said is that Porsche also tailors the shape of the airbag (the bag that gets deployed or inflated) to the cabin dimensions. This may explain why a 911 has a different part number to a Macan. In addition he said the 911 Turbo has a leather airbag hence different part number to 911 Carrera.
The 911 Turbo airbag is about $1000 more in list price, and $700 more in sunset price than the Macan leather airbag.
There can be 2 explanations why:
1) Both bags are identical, and with different part numbers, Porsche is trying to squeeze more money out of owners and insurance companies for the more expensive car.
2) The shape of the deployed airbag is different, and its safer to buy an actual 911 Turbo airbag.
Here are some pics of deployed airbags. The driver's side looks round to me in each case.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I think they're the same airbag. Too many variables like different sized people and seat settings to make the bag any different. The bag just protects the seated driver which cabin size has nothing to do with.
That's my take on it.
Funny thing is, all these airbags for most brand vehicles are all made by the same company.
They charge according to vehicle price pretty much. By different part #'s or some other detail, it can be justified. Because they can ...
At the end of the day for liability and insurance issues should an accident or something serious happen, I'd buy the correct one for the car. I know a small chance of happening, but if a BIG claim were to come ones way, anybody looks for a way out. Potential problems >>> Changed own airbag or put wrong part # in. I'd always have the dealer do it too. That's just me.
BTW, how much is a 918 airbag??

The answer is surprising. And this is a leather airbag.

However I think I will buy the Macan version. I don't see any risk in that as long as Porsche installs it. Also Porsche say they have very sophisticated sensors which detect errors to ensure you don't have risk of an airbag failing in a critical situation.

I can't give any rational explanation for Porsche pricing They charge based on some top secret formula.
Parts pricing to dealers from PCNA can fluctuate monthly for guys like Sunset, Suncoast, etc. too.

STG - I noticed the physical pull on the PDK levers between the .1 and .2 is different with the .2 having a lot less slop and less travel. More of a precise click.
2.5 Part question....
1. Did you notice the same? and do you think this is the primary driver for the proclamation of an improved PDK?
2. Do you think it is possible to only swap out the paddles from a .2 wheel to a .1 for the more precise "click"?
