Extended height armrest console lid installation (heavy picture warning)

Set yourself in the car and determine what is the gap you have below your elbow. See if another inch of height is enough.
I can reach the lowest portion of the wheel with the stock one. Another inch would move me to the 3-4 oclock position resting my elbow.
Would need another inch beyond that to get me where I would like to go.
I guess lowering the seat and the steering wheel more would also help that, ( but hurt other things).

Has anyone ever found a less expensive source for this part? I'm hesitant as here in Canada it'll be around $650 by the time I pay import costs. Local dealers are even more as they want $600 just for the leather portion, and then I still need the new plastic shell and the spring.

So does this supposed 991.1 only part (on suncoast) work on the 991.2?

It would seem that Porsche caught on to this and jacked up the price. When I bought my car a couple of years ago Suncoast was selling this for around $350. I should have jumped on it then. Now it is $525.

Nice! I have one of these sitting at home waiting to be installed by me. I ended up getting the Alcantara one with the Porsche crest. Install looks reasonably easy and quick.

Just wanted to say thank you for the awesome write-up. I'm half-way through install. I don't actually have the new armrest arriving until sometime in January, but my car is hibernating for the winter and I'm also installing Android Auto/reversing camera + DSC V3, so a lot of these same parts have to be removed anyway.
Some folks might want to remove the rear seat just to clean under it! The previous owner(s) must have been drowning in women as the amount of blonde hair I found under the seat was pretty shocking

Nice write-up! Thanks! I'm going to check with a local custom auto upholstery shop to see what they would charge for a leather/leatherette covered pad that could simply be slipped over the OEM (low) lid. It will be interesting to see what I can get done -- that looks as good (albeit w/o crest) -- for under $525.

Frank at Exclusive Option can make them in just about any color leather that Porsche uses.
