PCM Tech on 2012 vs 2013+?

Narrowing my 991 search. Found a 2012 C2S CPO that I'm going to look at tomorrow.

Is there any difference in the technology capabilities of the PCM on the first year vs 2013 and up?

Any other major differences or refreshes mid-cycle before the 991.2?

from my experience from 2012-2016 other than maybe software updates, hardware remained unchanged. I own a 2012 991 and owned a 2014 CaymanS, which has the same PCM.

Good to know, thanks. How is the iPhone interface with the PCM? Can you control your iPhone music directly from the PCM or do you have to do it from the phone. My 2016 BMW M235i's iDrive is pretty intuitive and integrates my iPhone pretty well via Bluetooth and tethered. Hoping I'm not giving up too much in this switch (from a PCM perspective that is!).

You can control Next/Previous Pause/Play with the PCM using Bluetooth. not sure on USB connection yet. Haven't tried.

I believe that the early 991s (2012.5) had a slightly different version of the PCM hardware.

Somewhere in around October 2012 build date cars they switched to the PCM with "Jukebox" hard drive music storage function.

If you're looking at a MT just note that they added auto throttle blip on downshifts in 2013.

I have Dec '11 build date 991S and it definitely does not have the jukebox function.

What are my best options for music? Just load up a USB stick and leave it plugged in? Burn a few DVDs with AAC/MP3 files and load them into 6 disc changer?

Can I add the jukebox?

PCNA said 14

PCNA said 14 was when that came in...it can be added later pretty easily aftermarket if you race.

I have an early 2013 build and no throttle blip whatsoever. I wasn't aware I might have a jukebox either, gotta go look now - been using a 64 gig USB key that's more than enough for music.

I have a 2013 C2S with Sport Chrono - it has autoblip (or my heel toe has become telepathic)

But only if you have SC option (and have sport + mode chosen, in 991.1)

strange

PCNA said the blip did not come in till 14' (SC cars only) perhaps they started late in 13" ?
