^ not really.....if one puts the PDK in manual mode then it acts just like a manual transmission car (minus the foot clutch). no computer needed!

I would think that the majority of us 991.1 owners that are moving to a 991.2 are doing it mainly because we simply want new cars. That's why I'm doing it. The added torque is a nice bonus. Extra $100k? For a lease that will cost me less than $100 per month more (of which about $85 is tax deductible) I'm getting a car with an upgraded leather interior, rear wheel steering, more horsepower and torque, voice control for the PCM, and updated PCM. And the new car will have 10,000 miles less than my current car along with 2 more years of warranty. The only objective thing I'm giving up is carbon fiber interior trim. Subjectively, I'm giving up nothing (Let's not start the NA vs FI sound, throttle response, etc debate. That horse has been beaten to death).

The 911 has never been about racing between the stoplights. There are much cheaper and more capable cars at this available.
The 911 is not all things to all people, but it's pretty damn close.
I think Porsche already make a drag racing version of 911, it is called Turbo S.
