Yikes. Reminds you that one mistake can essentially ruin the rest of your life.

Mother and Father were in the front seats and the child - unrestrained was in the car somewhere - 5 month old Armani Green of Rancho Mirage -died on scene, the article said..

Very sad. I am not going to go into the poor choices that were made but I pray for their health and long road ahead..

At 5 months the child was likely being held by the mother in the passenger seat.... In a severe wreck like this nearly impossible to hold on to anything with the forces involved and airbags may have done nothing for the child if not made it worse. I don't think an infant carrier seat would fit in the rear with the cage Installed. So f'in sad to read about things like this.... Prayers for the child.

Very sad. Senseless, preventable death.

The parents will never forgive themselves.

Unfortunately, not just the life of the decision maker. How terrible.

When a plane crashes, pilots tend to want to read about all the details. I don't think we mean to be morbid, just always learning. Many reasons for plane crashes but almost all are the end result of multiple bad decisions linked in a chain--and each link could have been a chance to stop flow of events. I think we all see several obviously bad decisions here: this isn't something that happened to them, they created an environment allowing this to happen...

As a private pilot for the past 20 years I couldn't agree more. There always seems to be a lot of conjecture about crashes but through the years I've learned to wait for the official NTSB report before making any judgements. Lots of rumors and they never seem to be quite right after reading the exhaustively-analyzed NTSB findings.

I am so sorry for this family.

Best wishes to those who grieve and may the innocent life, that was lost, rest in peace.

Be careful out there, while the car is in your control, the road and other variables are not. Public roads aren't race tracks, there is no such thing as a safe public road.

This happened very close to home. We know first hand that on weekends highway 74 is crowded with bicycles, motorcycles and cars. Whether the bikes may or may not have been a factor has not come out yet. The driver possibly had to swerve around a group of cyclists to avoid hitting them.
We have said many times that bicycles have no business on 74 or people that drive like they are on a race track. 74 is a tight curvy twisty narrow road with no dedicated bike lane and zero runoff areas. Dangerous to not respect possibilities.

Sad story..

So many things wrong...

Leave the spirited driving for the race track.

Always have your child in child seat, restraint etc...

A wrong choice that will haunt them for rest of their lives more than the criminal charges against them.

This is horrible. For everyone.
But why are infants allowed to fly in parents' laps on commercial airlines if an unrestrained child in a tragic auto accident warrents a murder charge?

Just a terrible situation that could have been avoided. I would never be able to forgive myself if it had been me behind the wheel.
