991.2-Will they sell?
Just scanned Cars.com and Autotrader for 2017 911's. Cars shows 918 listings and Autotrader has 1,015. The 2017's I first looked at my local dealers are all still available. By comparison there are fewer than 80 new Spyders listed on Cars, 6 new Ferrari Cali T's etc.
It appears it's a buyer's market for the new car.

In my case, my ordered car was listed on the dealer's inventory for a couple of months before delivery even if the car was spoken for. I don't know if all dealers do this and understand why they do it (although I don't like it). So, if this happens at all / most dealers, this may explain the relatively high numbers. Also keep in mind they sell roughly 10,000 911s in the US per year, so to show roughly 10%, or 1.2 months worth of inventory does not seem such a huge number - again considering some may be actually spoken for...

They all sell eventually or they make a smaller number in the next batch, right?
For a very long time, I thought I would never buy a new one after the 993s went out of production. The old folks adjust and new buyers don't know any differently.
My consigned TT sold weeks ago and it was still on the dealer's site yesterday.

Cars.com shows ALOT of cars that are sold initially. They are automatically uploaded to the listings. Not an accurate representation. Plus Porsche knows demand and doesn't flood the market with any of their models.
Question should be >>> HOW WELL will they sell?
My prediction is on par with the numbers they've been doing with the 991.1
I think sports cars in general are having a tough time in the market. They aren't as practical daily drivers for many younger and older buyers. Generalizations of course. Many of the sporty SUV/CUV's, etc. are giving many people their "sports car fix", while still being able to be practical in many everyday uses.
For many people's lifestyles having their only car be a sports car isn't practical. If you can afford a few cars for different uses, then you have the best of both worlds. Not a reality for many people though.

They're gonna sell all of them. Listings do not equal available cars, as some dealers scrape every car, including sold spec cars, as well as cars that are still in transit.

Not sure why you think they are not selling. Even though I am a die hard 991.1 fan the new car seems to be a fantastic new 911 in all respects. I don't get to overly concerned with the exhaust sound as I already have an aftermarket on my 4S as I wasn't a big fan of the PSE and I believe that is not performance it's lipstick. So if the exhaust is a deal breaker then I'm confused. If the car has the speed and handling I have heard it has and the other improvements anyone that does not buy it because of the noise , I don't get.
At my dealer where I do some service the cars have been well received and are selling. I'm not into bashing the new car nor am i ignorant enough to think it will be rejected by the buying public and Porsche will be making NA 911's next year. I'm sure the car will sell and it will just get better going forward.

I respectfully disagree. I took delivery of mine on Tuesday and put 800 miles on it in two days on a road trip from PEC Atlanta (I will post a separate report for that soon). Of course, I may be biased, but I think they will sell all of them and sell fairly well, within the context of a shrinking sports car market as STG said. All I can say so far is that I am very happy with my purchase and would buy it again!
