I have recently bought a .1 so I am potentially biased. However:
  • I get the feeling that some .2 owners are so fed up of hearing .1 owners trash the .2 that they are seeking "cold revenge"
  • Both .1 and .2 owners would surely love to hear that their model is much better than the other. The differences are possibly less than what you hear in this kind of forums.
  • The .2 is not a "new model". It is an existing one with some tweaks, some of them people like (no one is complaining about the new electronics, I assume new options like the lane change assist would be loved by someone else than me, etc.) and others not so much, the latter being subjective by nature (turbo, sound, aesthetics, tradition, etc.).
  • There are still plenty of .1 available, new and preowned. Whoever doesn't like .2 has options to spare.
In my case, I assume that the newer model is generally better, but it is also more expensive, depreciates more, and I wouldn't touch with a stick a car with an engine that has been launched less than 6 months ago , but that is just me.

Where there preowned .2 available last month when I bought mine, I might have been choosing between .1 and .2 without any problems, it would end up depending on the specific units available, not on general prejudices about the NA engines (wich nevertheless I respect). As there were none, only the .1 was running and got elected.

I think, in reality, most people don't really care which car is 'better', nor do they give a rat's a$$ what others choose to drive. They chose/choose the car they like and define 'better' in the manner they choose. I think a lot of comments about preferences on here are stupidly misinterpreted as jealousy.

I too dvr'd it. Very disappointing. Blablabla. I just got my 991.1S, my first p car and can't drive it enuf. Is the .2 any better, perhaps, I really don't care. Btw, What's going on with Kendal, looking really ****ty, paunch, limping and paid too much for an infomercial.

I bought my 991.1 a couple years ago and recognize that better cars will come out. For example, the 911 R is probably a better car than mine. That being said, something newer that is mandated by government restrictions and not from something better for the consumer is not going to necessarily be better. I'm perfectly happy with my car and don't care for turbo lag or the turbo sound

infomercial , and a bad one at that

I cant believe they really invited super fans to ride in the cars, but didnt let them drive the cars.

I thought less of Porsche after watching that show

I disagree, I would love that everyone agreed that the .1 would always be the only one to fully represent the spirit of the 911 and that future models will always be cushy GT's for 80 year old customers, and that the .1 will be always sought for and will no doubt double its value in no time...

But the difference between what I would like and the reality is too big to ignore.

Let's face it, the #1 one rule in marketing always will be "newer is better". If companies couldn't sell that dream then they would cease to exist. Most people are to ignorant to know any better.
They pitched the same thing when the 996's came out in 1999 vs the old '993's of 1998. Those old '98's are now worth $80-$100K. Those new and improved 1999 996's are now worth $20K.
BOTH versions of 991 are better than 99% of all other cars on the road today. Which will most hold its place in infamy? Time will tell.

Ohoh anyone looking to purchase Astroglide and tissues in Canada, you'd better hurry. They might be sold out soon.

The show had to be paid for by Porsche marketing.

Should of had clarkson host.... He could heckle the old model since he hates Porsche anyways. At least it would have been entertaining!

A lot of new model marketing but OK.

Probably better for those who aren't aware of the changes.

I actually recorded this and was looking forward to watching it. Now, after all the comments, no longer so excited.
