A group of us got together in Spruce Pines NC and drove the Bushwhacker and Diamondback Route.

911, Vette, Audi A3, GTI and a Mazda Miata

Unfortunately on Saturday we left Spruce Pines and it was 46 degrees but during our northern route 261/143 the temperature continued to fall as we climbed in elevation. We ran into what looked like frozen fog, snow and black ice at 26 degrees in the border between NC and TN. What fun on summer tires...... 4 wheel drift anyone. . Came back down and cut on over to 80 south and finished by returning to Spruce Pines via the Diamondback route through Little Switzerland where it was a nice 60 degrees.

Everyone kept the shiny side up and only had a few close calls with some tighter then expected twists.

Completely agree. That is an amazing photo and has me questioning the routes I took during my ~ 1 week in Germany for ED. Granted, I made the choice to spend half of my time there at the Ring, so that and the potential for snow in the passes somewhat limited my choices. But, still, seeing that view would have been worth some schedule modifications!

If you are a golfer the course and club are awesome.
Driven that stretch numerous times. Getting more used to the winding roads and trying to keep up with the locals. 😊
I played Lake Toxaway while there. Very nice mountain course. I have mostly played Trillium when in Cashiers. Very diabolical course. ☹
I need to get up there more often.
