Monaco is incredible. Beautiful cars. Beautiful yachts. Beautiful people. An electric energy in just the right way. Here's a shot of our family in front of The Casino.
Yesterday we three hung out at the Nikki Beach Club for a drink and met up with friends we made during the factory tour in Stuttgart. Afterwards, our family strolled along the waterfront back to Le Meridien where Baby Bash ceremoniously dipped his little toes into the Mediterranean for the very first time.
To ensure proper car content, here's a photo of The Blue Baron in front of The Casino. We felt a bit like rock stars circling the roundabout and the MT 3.8L NA flat six in Sport Mode provided the perfect soundtrack.
Today we bid ado to Monte Carlo as we drove past the McLaren, Ferrari and Rolls Royce dealerships in town. The Baron reentered France and proceeded on its way to Nice. The ride was ridiculously easy and we look forward to exploring the city.

Amazing thread, just read all the pages.
I did however had a question about your use of temporary paint protection film.
Since you made the effort of dropping your car off at Schwabbenfolia, was there a reason why you didn't install Xpel Ultimate over the entire car? I can only presume money wasn't a factor, was it too much time to have that completed?
Seems odd you would go to the trouble of going to a detailer + PPF installer, but only partially protect the car and use temporary PPF on the rest of the car.
Did you drive to Schwabbenfolia or had it transported from the European Delivery pick up point?
I want to do ED some day, but I'm always concerned about rock chips and wear/tear. So kinda want to understand your thought process and logistics of everything.
Thank you so much

Sandro originally had the Targa scheduled for a flatbed pickup directly from the factory; however, we made friends during the factory tour that caused lunch to run way over schedule (but well worth it!), the vehicle introduction went way over schedule (ditto), and it took a little time to source a factory towel to protect the alcantara before installing a baby seat (ditto). These three factors collectively caused Plan B to be triggered which involved us driving the 10 minutes directly over to Schwabenfolia which, fortunately, occurred without incident. Dropping the car off personally gave me the added benefit of meeting the team and checking out the facility.
The protective measures proved to be fortuitous as we hit a massive storm heading into Milan. (The local news called it the worst storm in a decade.) Driving the car was easier knowing that PPF was properly in place

Congrats on a fantastic build and a great looking car! Really look forward to more pictures of the car and the interior throughout your trip! Whatever the price for the CXX wheels was, it's worth it on your SB Targa
Question on the car seat - which infant seat did you get? We're also expanding so the GTS (Coupe RWD/MT) will need a good solution . My wife seems to be of a similar height as yours so whatever works for you, would probably work for us.
Enjoy your trip!

Nice was nice. We first paid our respects at the ad hoc memorial. While I don't speak French, the notes, candles and artwork more than adequately conveyed the country's grief and bewilderment.
We then walked down the promenade and eventually strolled inland down ancient streets lined with cafes. The city's tourism has certainly rebounded with a vengeance.
Here's a shot from the driver's seat as we headed out of Nice today. Note the mileage on the odometer.
The spirited drive over the Italian Alps had me suddenly wondering how many electronic speeding tickets I've accrued between Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Monaco and France. Hopefully none... but time will tell. This photo captures our ascent up the Italian Alps en route to Turin.

Turin was a lovely surprise. Breathtaking architecture, sublime food and incredibly warm people. The best meal of our 5-country trip, and certainly one of the cheapest, was at Cafe Platti which dates back to 1870. The interior, much like the older buildings in Turin, looks like it's straight out of Vienna. The shrimp and tomato penne dishes were simple yet brilliant.
During our meal, two local women seated near us invited my wife to be a guest of the American Women's Society of Turin. (She respectfully declined as we were not staying in town long.)
We were driving towards Laussane; however, an incoming storm over the alps conjured up images of the near-tropical storm we encountered in Milan. So my brave and beautiful co-pilot set revised coordinates for Lake Lugano. In the photo below is a 14th century castle in the background which I snapped as we reset our course.

What a great trip. I tried to talk my wife into ED this month but she declined (it really didn't make sense on the short notice).
I look forward to your entries when I get on the site.
Drive well but safe and bring your family home happy!

Hello, Lake Lugano. We opted -- okay, I insisted -- for a Swiss lake town since numerous RL members warned me about the treacherous, narrow streets in Como. So we left Italy proper for the Italian-speaking side and friendlier roads of Switzerland.
Driving into town is enchanting. The lake is framed by glacial peaks and quaint towns. The water's surface is given texture by vintage car-shaped paddle boats and panhandling swans. Due to mitigating factors, a crying baby and inclement weather, we did things backwards this time as we pulled into town.
We parked The Blue Baron in a safe garage and then looked for a hotel. We settled on a quiet inn one block in from the lake and three blocks from the car. The room was palatial and the nightly rate palatable.
Our best meal was at Federale. While Swiss food tends to be culinarily challenged, despite its proximity to Italy, the chicken and pesto pasta/potato were succulent.
Two shots. One with Federale behind Baby Bash and the other with an RS6 Avant. (Wish those hyper-wagons were sold stateside.)
