Low price, why?

Low price, why?
All,
I'm on the hunt. This car had been sitting on CarGurus for a long time.
http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invento...ting=122123369
Aside from being a 2012 and having low options, why is the price of this car so much lower than most other 991 base 12/13s. May be it just is bec it does have low options.
Are we going to start to see a lot of overlap of 991 and 997.2 pricing?

It's because the spoiler is broken in the up position. Also, it has the sale-proof manual.
Seriously, that is an amazingly cheap price for a car that nobody will be able to tell from new till the 992 comes out. I'm liking it a lot better than what that money buys you in a 997.

Very low MSRP = $87K
Base model Carrera
Mileage on the higher side
No Porsche dealer CPO. Warranty expiring in 4 months.
For sale at $34K off MSRP with all the above is typical.
Haven't even seen the history report either

Check out "hot for sale". Lots of nice cars listed.
Call Gene McClure on this one. He'll take care of you. He's a sales guy there and a Rennlister.

^^ I disagree that the first one is a bad deal just because this one is a great deal. Yeah, it's got more stuffs on it and it's an S with 14k fewer miles. And I'd certainly prefer it to the base in the OP. But historically, the stripped base models depreciate slower (often MUCH slower) than the pricier models that from the outside look the same. So yes, a loaded, high-trim-line Porsche will be a better value to someone down the line.
BUT... sometimes 10k makes all the difference. It's not uncommon for a person to be looking at 997s in the mid-to-high 40s, find a 991 for 53, and while that's already a stretch, "Hey, I could be looking at a 991 for not much more." But stretching another 10k, when maybe you've already stretched 5k to get to the 53k mark may not be doable or wise.
And to my point, just because the 63k seems like a "better" buy, doesn't make the 53k car a "bad" buy. Now if you were to link another base model with more options and fewer miles for that same 53k, OR a car with similar options and miles for significantly fewer dollars, then I'd agree completely that the OP car is not a good value.
But if the only cars available for under $55k are nice 997.2Ss or nice 991.1s, then I think a strong case can be made for either choice at that price, depending on what your target experience is.
Cheers!

^^ this. I bought a base model as well. It was the max I was willing to spend. Could I have bought an older 's'? Most likely, but I wanted the most recent model year I could afford.
Different people, different needs. I think $53k for a 991 is remarkable and this most be one of the cheapest 991's you can buy right now

I never said the first one was a bad deal. I merely answered the OP's question of why it's priced where it is (the only one who has).
Offered another option too. It's all about choices.

Typical depreciation for a car like that. We don't even know that Carfax history on it either. It's also not a certified preowned warranty car either.

Now we're going to argue points that were edited before one decides to criticize them?
Is this a political debate that someone gets roasted for something they said 10 years ago?

LOL, I read your post once. Didn't know I needed to check back to see if it had been changed before responding. I'll make a point in the future.
In the meantime, I think we can all agree that, while this car may or may not be a good purchase candidate based on history, the price is not out of line for a bottom-feeder 991.

If the car history checks out, and the car is in great condition, Think it's priced very fairly. You could probably get it for $50,000
Very great price on any 991
The manual is probably hurting it, but for the enthusiast it would be a very fun driving car.

I do think the car posted by STG is a better deal. For an additional 10k un-negotiated you get S with greater HP & tq, half the miles and 2 years of additional warranty from the CPO. Whats not to like about that deal.
