Is it curtains for the 991.2?
I have followed the lively 991.2 discussion with great interest. It appears that we are now prepared to accept the once despised vertical engine cover AKA "the comb", the quirky four point rear taillights and largish front vents.
The new PCM, steering wheel and beefed up PDK from the big brother Turbo S are seen as bonafide improvements, leaving only the linchpin exhaust note and loss of soul to be fiercely debated. But with the rear wing now positioned to a new high, out comes...the curtains. Have a look a caradvice.com au for outstanding photos and finally close ups of the rear end with the spoiler up. What appears to be 2-stage curtains conceal more of the complicated bits for the new engine, perhaps the intercooler. It is, for me, the messiest bit about the 991.2 and a sale stopper. Not really any mention of this in any reviews. Spoiler down, classic 911 profile. Spoiler up - wide open trunk. I for one, would prefer a rear end that looks beautiful all the time - perhaps Porsche missed an opportunity to introduce an active pylon style spoiler? What do you think? |
if you dont track and keep your speed under 90 mph on fast sweepers esp if 95% of your time at that type of speed is on 5 second max urban freeway " blasts " , just pull the fuse on the spoiler motor and your stated concern/ problem solved of how your car looks to the " could care less " strangers sharing the road with you when you are above 75mph !

OP, you can't post this thread and not include pictures.... Come on
|
The spoiler shouldn't be up much anyway unless you're above 75mph. And then is anyone really looking in there?
Also, this thread is useless without pics. |

Now you mention it, it does look like opened trunk lid. LOL.
|
yeah....it does look like you left your trunk open. People are going to be honking at you down the street.
...and we can't get a SD or Aerokit package either to change the look. |
also look how wide the license plate opening is compared to the 991.1. is this because its a European model?
|
Come on guys. Talk about nit picking. IMHO, any 991 with the spoiler up looks odd.
Anyway, I have just spent 4 days in driver training staring at the arse end of a 991.2., and I think they look good. |

Also, if they color matched the area underneath the open spoiler, it wouldn't look so ghastly. |

*Technically, I've only had to listen to it for 1 year, as I was "one of them" for the previous 3. |
