So is what I'm gathering from this conversation that right now, today, if I bought this device I'd have a wonderful port to look into my GTS's brain, but no tune to actually make any changes, unless I wanted to go the "manual" route and start guessing at settings?

Or is that not correct?

Very good point and taken.

Doesn't sound like guessing at all. I went to their site and opened the download/install manuals. Looks like if you can read you can do it without issue.

The way I read it Cobbs says it works BUT they are looking for a GTS so the can develop the map.

There is no base map for the GTS yet. Once they have one to tune, you will plug to accessport into your OBD2 port and upload the base map that they have developed. You can then go drive the car and do ~3 WOT pulls in 3rd gear to let the car adapt. After that is compete, your car will (according to the dyno) pickup ~30 whp.

That was my understanding as well. Meaning that, till the map is developed the port is not useful (to GTS owners) unless you want to guess and write your own parameters. Unless I'm missing something.

I am very happy with the Cobb in my WRX and no problems, I wonder if this might be the solution for the hesitation issue? I called them today but they just released it and have no feedback on the 991 yet.

30whp in a boosted WRX is no big deal. 30whp on a NA 991 seems a bit ambitious to me in terms of long term reliability.

It means I can add a tune, intake, exhaust, plenum, 1 medium GReddy and 2 small NOPI stickers to have a 500hp output according to all the manufacturer suggested gains.

No way you're getting to 500hp without a NOS sticker.

???

using the AP to install maps is a no-brainer, actually developing a *new* map specifically for the X51 is a different matter that requires a dyno, additional software, and the skillset to tune the parameters...

Naw... That NOS stickers make me live my life one quarter mile at a time. I'll be online later to check this thread as I have to go overnight some parts from Japan.

My mistake I thought the question was in regards to actually performing the install. Did not pick up it was GTS specific. My deepest apologies.

I will be interested to hear feedback when someone does an install on any 991.

Is this the kind of thing where we can tell COBB our mods (x-pipe, filters, etc) and they can incorporate that into the GTS tune? Or one size fits all?
