bipass x-pipe or headers with high flow cats?
Hi guys,
need your expertise here. if you could only do one mod. car currently has PSE. I love the way it sounds...I just want it a little louder in the cabin.
which would you pick....bypass x-pipe or headers with high flow cats??
thanks

You'd be better off going with an x-pipe instead of headers with high-flow cats. An x-pipe will be cheaper, easier to install, and will give you the sound you're looking for. Someone from 6SP installed high-flow catted headers with the stock PSE system and said that there wasn't a big difference in sound.

Just installed the Fabspeed Valvetronic X pipe to increase exhaust sound with my PSE. Slightly louder with the values closed and pure NA exhaust nirvana when they are open! The quality and finish of their exhaust is excellent too...

Hi Agate911S
After the install of the exhaust from FABSPEED, did you notice any performance enhancements too?
I plan to do this same install, the webpage states 16 whp increase and 14 torque plus 12 lbs lighter.
Did you notice an improvement besides the great sound?
Thanks.

This is my current dilemma. They look pretty similar, but the Fabspeed uses a sleeve clamp, where the AWE system is welded. One is polished, and the other isn't.
EDIT: I do prefer the less angular design of the AWE, especially where the flange is attached.

What I can tell you is we dyno our products in a climate controlled facility on our Dynojet, we fabricate these products 50 feet from where I sit now and they came with a lifetime limited warranty (just don't get rearended haha), and our customer service department is top notch. Porsche performance is our specialty, and I would love to work with each and every one of you. Please give me a call and let me know what you need to get the ball rolling

Isn't the AWE considered an x-pipe as well? I don't see much difference between the AWE, Fabspeed, IPE, Cargraphic, FVD, etc based on looking at pictures of each. They are all more or less a replacement for the center mufflers, have a valve to operate via the PSE switch, and are shaped more or less in an X. Interesting that some are explicitly called an X-pipe where others are not.
That said there is no end of differences in the sound/tone of each so that is where the hard part lies...

The Fabspeed X-Pipe utilizes an investment cast X section. This ensures maximum quality and longevity of the product by minimizing the amount of welds and smoothing out the exhaust flow over a standard X design. I would be happy to discuss the design structure at length over the phone, it would take an eternity to type out haha. I have an early R&D video floating around somewhere that i'll find and post up for you guys.

I didn't want to mess with cats and mufflers and all of that for maybe a minimal gain and to avoid emission stuff if you are messing with cats. I wanted something that was a simple cat back type system with awesome sound.
The other builders are great to, so that is where you have to make up your mind. Heres a clip of my car!

So the Valvetronic X pipe still allows you to make a car with PSE quiet for long runs via the interior switch? Im all over this if so.. This would be my 4th Fabspeed exhaust if so, Great company, Great product!
