Thanks for the video! What a tease. By the looks of the rear bumper, that one does not have a sport exhaust.

Nah. I am happier in my 997 GT3.

This OUGHT to shed some actual light on the matter, at least for those who care for facts.

Thanks! Sort of makes you feel sorry for the poor bastards stuck with a 991.1, huh?

I think its about finding a balance for each individual. Obviously most of us here on 991 Rennlist are car driving enthusiasts, so we all seek a sporty/driver's car to a certain degree. How sporty is a more personal choice. I haven't driven the 991.2 so can't comment on how it feels in this regard, but I would have to compare it to the manual GTS I now have and that is a very high bar to surpass. The low end torque will be nice as will the new tech bits such as Google maps, etc., but not a huge deal for me. We shall see. I will certainly test drive one when it hits the showroom floor.

I am looking forward to test driving it too. I like low-end torque, but I also like rolling on and off the throttle at high revs on a country road, so we will see which one wins. I'm kind of open to driving the new one and thinking it's the best thing ever, but I suspect that, coming from motorbikes, I may be naturally aspirated at heart...

Must buy period for me. I love that color, it even matches my coffee cup color.

Now all I have to figure out is how to get the funds for it. It will happen, I just have to use think deeply and figure it out.

Super excited to see more of 991.2 videos.

PS - Is the steering that bad in 991.1?

Don't be fooled by the sound inside the car. That is the result of Porsche routing more intake noise into the cabin, they're already admitted as much. If you listen to the outside shots in that video, you'll hear the tell tale kinda buzzy turbo car sound. Probably doesn't matter to much if it sounds good inside the car, but the reality is that's a bit manufactured. Good looking car though and it appears to be a performer.

=+1 Smaller liter engine with turbos will never sound like it did. But it still is a great car and a good performer. 911 Turbo is a good comparison. Bigger liter engine with turbos and it sounds good but not like a 991.1 non turbo car.

Not bashing the new car at all. Everyone likes what they like and it is very cool. It has some good points too so whatever a person likes. No choice is bad!

The C2S with sport exhaust I heard at Rennsport V sounded just fine to me as it blasted by. It had a deeper tone than a 991S with PSE but with all the pops as it downshifted. I thought it was different and not necessarily better, but the difference is not so drastic and about as aesthetically critical (to me) as the horizontal vs vertical engine cover vents.

PS - I find my 2012.5 with Sport PASM has outstanding steering feel- clearly better than a non-SPASM car I tested when I bought it, so I am very interested is seeing how the latest rendition improves on it. More better feel great- but I would have no interest in returning to the barely subdued bump steer and understeer of the several air cooled Porsches I loved in the past.

More usable torque sure sounds enticing.

What's interesting to me is the gigantic step the 911 took from 997 to 991!
It's a lot more comfortable, quicker, more luxurious and so on. It is a better car, no doubt.

Same discussion is going on over at the gt3/RS section. Is the car to good for the street???

Majority of the 991s are not tracked all the time so personally I don't think a 991 can be to good for the street.
The 991 is so good that it actually feels like a cruiser at normal road speed. I have tracked a 991gts. And that is an amazing car. I'm not a pro driver and it wasn't my car so obviously I wasn't even close to the limits of what the car can do.
But, oh man what a car to deliver. Take your 991s to the track and you can definitely feel the sports car DNA.

No matter how good it seems, would never own first year of a new motor!
