I ordered mine painted but now prefer it unpainted because I think it makes the rear look wider and more aggressive. Painted makes it look a bit "pretty". Here is a hot of mine and one without. Although photo angles are different, it gives a good idea of what they look like.

I like your version painted on the left pic. Looks great.

One thing I'd suggest to those with painted side skirts. Get PPF (paint protection film) on them. They will get hit with stones. Doing the part behind the rear wheels on the rear bumper helps a lot too. There is a precut pattern the PPF installers have. I'm not talking about the factory stone guards in front of the rear wheels.

With any car over $100K, I HATE seeing black unpainted plastic. Even over $80K!

thread resurrection.......team.......the rear fascia/valance portion that the subject of the thread is about......is that fixed to the rest of the rear bumper cover or is it a separate part? by the looks of the parts fiche that i'm looking at, it appear to be all one part. if it matters any, i'm speaking specifically of a wide body 991.1 GTS.

yes/no?

thanks in advance,

edit: some pictures above clearly show that the valance/fascia is a separate part (not fixed to the bumper) unless it now is fixed on the 2016 991.1 wide body bumper cover.

I say no. Personally i like the contrast esp if you have a black exhaust tips. I am probably going to switch to black emblems later which i think it matches well with the black valance and a light color car

On all 991.1's it is a separate piece and is removable. Has its own part # too.

Both narrow body and wide body bumpers.

For guys who install the Vorsteiner rear diffuser, this piece comes off.

It’s not a one size fits all answer. It depends on a number of things such as model (GTS, etc), vehicle color, etc. On some cars a painted valence looks great, on others I would not do it. On my Carmine Red GTS I thought about doing it but am glad I didn’t. With all of the black trim on the car, along with that particular color, a painted valence would not look right IMO. But on a silver Carrera S for example, it would look good. Just my opinion and YMMV.
