Default Driving In Sport Plus

How often do you drive in sport plus and do you leave it in auto or do you switch to manual for those that have PDK?

On the track or xCross in Sports+ and in auto so I can spend my attention on the line and what is going on around me rather than trying to "time" shifts. Around town in normal or Sport and in auto but with frequent use of the paddle shifters.

Always! 7MT, and that's the first button I push after starting the car.

As far as the car with PDK, only in manual mode. All other times, I drive in Sport.

Rarely use Sport Plus, mostly to show off. So far stick to automatic mode for Sport Plus because my reaction time is too slow to keep out of the rev limiter in manual mode. That may change as my experience with the car grows.

To overide this Sport Plus / PDK activity by constantly pressing the up/ down manual paddles at 0-15 mph stop and go is ....what can I say .

Just as bad or worse on the automode Sport Plus acceleration side as it will hold first gear to redline , at these same stop and go speeds ...." major major tool " !

All of this is triply compounded if you have not separately turned off optional PSE which comes on with the Sport Plus button .

TIL I am a major tool I love the noises it makes when downshifting in Sport Plus with PSE on.

I mostly run in normal mode with PSE on, Sport+PSE if I feel frisky.

I don't use Sport Plus much unless I'm really wanting to hammer it, it basically doesn't shift until redline ever so it's like being in manual mode.

Love to see a few fellow MT drivers here. We are becoming a lost tribe. if i'm in the city i go sport only, if i am on good back roads on my way to work or highway Sport plus. In the MT cars you decide when to shift. I let the oil temp hit 160 or higher and push the button.

we both agree , though, that with PDK, Sport Plus in automode is unusable on the road in stop and go or even constant 65 mph freeway speeds , as it will hold ridic high rpms, its logic programmed to assume you are merely waiting to pass every car on the " race track " at 120 mph !

Hopefully the next gen PDK in Sport Plus automode will integrate a " GPS map" mode button ( to add to the new " driver configured " button on the new steering wheel ) to mitigate that stop and go and freeway driving " dumbness " on its part to differentiate a hairpin corner at the track from the driveway of your house .

I'm in Sport mode unless I'm on a long freeway slog, then it's Normal. Sport+ is for track days only for me.

PDK, I leave it in Sport Plus on autocross days.

Normal driving, Sport if I am on back roads (but not in my neighborhood) and Sport mode generally off on the highway.

Yes, with PDK in Sport+ the car up-shifts at redline, however, even in automatic mode you can up-shift before this. The only limits I've found in Sport+/automatic mode are: up-shift at 7,800 RPM and down-shift at 3,000 RPM. Every shift-point in between is at your discretion .

Anyone know to what degree the traction control nannies are reduced in Sport+ versus Sport mode?
