It just occurs to me that it's best to treat the topic like politics and religion are treated. But unlike those topics, this one is likely to have a finite period of relevance. In the meantime, I, for one, intend to embrace coexistence and respect for other people's choices and preferences.

Peace.

I have a manual transmission for the same reason that I own a 1917 30-06, 1944 Remington Rand .45,
only cotton, wool or leather clothing, and only buy old books. And an 80 year old dial phone on my desk.

...I don't know exactly what that reason is, precisely. But, that's why.

Seemed like a sentiment that needed to be expressed. Just occurred to me while I was shaving and getting dressed this morning. And then I was at a conference with some time on my hands, so figured I'd express it.

If I'd wanted to stir it up, I'd have asked for opinions about THE BEST break-in procedure.

To Valkuri's post - Funny, now that I think about it, I prefer to write with a nice fountain pen. And I have a Kimber 1911. And a Nikon F2 film camera. (Which never gets used in favor of all the digital photography stuff)

Why is anyone complaining about the sound of this car? Sounds great from where I'm sitting.

That vertical grill still hasn't grown on me, ugly as sin.

I'm hoping to be able to buy a new car for myself for the next 70+ years so I hope you're right about being able to find a new 3 pedal sports car then. I'd also like to teach my kids to drive it and get them excited about a 3 pedal car.

How are you getting 'faster than an S' from that video, given there's no lap time recorded and the video skips forward? Was there a time quoted somewhere? There's no official Laguna lap for the 991.2 up on Fastest Laps yet.

What you're hearing is the intake noise they're now pumping into the cabin, not the exhaust. Sounds great for the driver for sure, which is all that really matters, but it's not necessarily indicative of the sound outside the car.

I started reading this thread and wondered if I had fallen down some libertarian rabbit hole (peaceful coexistence, no one's personal choice is wrong, etc.). Nice to see that the world has returned to it's proper order with the ribbing, snarky, sniping later posts!

I'm planning on buying a new sports car until I'm at least 100. I'll probably keep it in comfort mode when I'm that age. My grandfather bought a new car at 98, although not a sports car. Hopefully with medical advancements I'll be able to keep on driving a long, long time

I get how the medical advancements will keep you alive and able to drive. Assuming there are any new cars that require driving. With automotive advancements you will probably have to forget about a new car if you want to do anything more than tell the car where to take you.

So what you are saying is those annoying robocalls that happen while you are peacefully watching the Lawrence Welk show, the ones that begin "Attention Seniors!....) are hitting their intended target audience for a change? 😄
