Gbree's Guards Red X51 Buy and Build.
So after a year of searching cars.com for over a year and lurking on Rennlist since 2014, I have finally purchased my first Porsche; a 2013 911 C2S with the X51 power package and a 7 speed manual gearbox. I actually found it through Rennlist member STG991's "Hot for sale pick of the week" thread. It was exactly what I had been searching for and I knew that it was the one immediately upon seeing the listing. I called up Tom Wood Porsche in Indianapolis, IN and we worked out a deal that I could not pass up.
One week later, I was on my way up from Baton Rouge, LA (an 810 mile trek). We left at 3:30 AM and arrived at 4 PM. I chose to trade in my 2008 BMW 335i (pictured below). I have been into modifying and racing BMW's competitively with National Autosport Association for some time now, but I have always had a soft spot for a clean Porsche. Here is my E36 M3 race car build for anyone who is interested in seeing some of the work I have done in the past. It is a never ending project :) http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/sh...t-build-thread https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5733/...685caae5_c.jpg When I arrived at the dealer, they had just finished detailing the car and it looked absolutely flawless. Upon seeing it, I knew that I had made the right choice. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5744/...983dd5d3_c.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/731/2...25303154_c.jpg After finishing up a bit of paperwork, we started back to Decatur, AL (another 6 hour trip) to stay with family. When we arrived at 12 P.M., we were exhausted. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/621/2...ca73712a_c.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/674/2...c2072ede_c.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/676/2...922cbb32_c.jpg After taking a quick break to sleep, we got up at 7 A.M. and finished the journey home to Baton Rouge: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5646/...03afe4ca_c.jpg The trip was exhausting but extremely exciting. I can't begin to describe how much better this car is than I expected. I had test driven numerous 991s before purchase, but this car is absolutely flawless. The only thing I can compare it to is my E36 M3 race car before the full cage, but with modern amenities and amazing comfort. The turn-in and grip are absolutely astounding and the noise is second to none. I have no doubt that I could lap a race track quicker in this stock 991 than I could in my GTS3 race car. I'm really enjoying the PSE and the gargle of the exhaust upon lifting off the throttle as my last car was turbocharged and sounded like a vacuum cleaner. This is a car that I can't ever imagine getting tired of and I'm extremely pleased with my decision to jump ships to Porsche. The M4 that I test drove seems extremely inferior in both quality and performance (and I've been a die-hard BMW guy for years). Here are some shots I took of it after cleaning it up: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5715/...705ca2d3_c.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5782/...042b0d92_c.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5806/...8aa0e2f1_c.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/716/2...a4688460_c.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5740/...27b8142e_c.jpg This thread will serve to document my journey with this car, similar to my E36 M3 build thread that I linked previously in this thread. I have just purchased the rennline 5 piece mesh grill set. I feel it is important to protect the heat exchangers, and that should do the trick. |

Congrats!
May I add: Manual PDCC SPASM PSE Sport Chrono X51 Aerokit Cup package And more .... What a build and a nice drivers car. When I saw this car, I knew it was a special one and would be gone in days. Couldn't have gone to a better guy who really appreciates this great car and the deal he got on it. We'll be seeing some nice contributions here. Welcome to Rennlist! Glad you made it home safe and got that car cleaned up. |

Beautiful car Gbree! I have a red GTS coming soon. You have virtually the same car, gently broken in for I am sure a whole lot less coin. I am jealous. Kudos to you, and STG for his great buyer service!
