Please allow me to suggest some alternatives. The aluminum cap is pure aesthetic and non-functional given its location, you are the only one who sees it. I preferred to spend monies on what Porsche has criminally overlooked that detracts from my 991 GTS. I chose to fill in all the front slots with radiator guards from Rennline or Zunsport that have no aesthetic balance but protect the unexposed radiators. I clean my radiators with each wash yet, though I get the debris out of 5 slots, the damage to the radiators within those slots has been astounding. Hence, I chose to spend my funds to buy an item, radiator grills, that would benefit my car rather than my psycho. Please think what you can buy for your Porsche that would enhance or maintain its function. The Aluminum-like cap does not make it.

Default aluminium Gas cap

Yes got one for Christmas...Wooowhooo...

Didn't read the complete thread but found a little trick that may help others on install.
I have a 991.2 and the tether line connects to a mushroom solid plastic stud.
OEM theatre line and loop that is a little stretchy which with a small needle nose pliers pulls off like an old tee shirt.
New tether is more hard plastic..remedy a dap of white lithium grease and the tether loop pops right on.

Now enjoy your new special moments when your gassing up...lol

I just installed the cap as well. I had it on my Turbo S and didn't want to miss it on the new-to-me GT3.

I read the entire thread beforehand and one thing nobody mentioned was that the shape of the stud "mushroom" cap aids in installation.
As you can see in the picture below, the back of the cap is shaved off allowing easily installation of the loop from top/bottom.

Porsche owners are a special breed... I remember the endless discussions that finding various types of contact paper on top of the ashtrays of the 356 (with various 60's designs and themes) caused... priceless...

I had ordered one and sent it back because of that.
I got mine from SunCoast and it did have the tit for holding it in the hole while fueling. Video is not necessary. Cut off the old tether. No need to orient the cap as it just spins on a loop. The tether is a semi hard plastic, just heat it up with a hair dryer and put some type of grease on the mushroom. If you use any type of metallic hook to stretch it over tit be verrrrry careful!!!!!!!!
