I think it's Porsche's ploy to sell SportDesign Package ($4990 ducktail and front bumper) which will come with a body-colored metal decklid. Many 991GTS buyers got SportDesign Package to replace the black plastic decklid.

LOL, takes all types -- I bought the Ducktail because I love it, and was disappointed to learn I wasn't getting the cool retro engine grill to go with it.
I'm new to Porsche and LOVE the duck tail Although I appreciate the flow of a 911 without anything on the back, I think the car looks sportier and more purposeful with the tail. But, as with many things, looks and style are very subjective.

Arguing whether the ducktail looks good or not is like arguing about paint color. It's personal preference. I don't love it or hate it, but that's just me.
Am I the only one that preferred driving my car than reading the 3 new pages on this thread today?
I'm with shake-em on the Subaru (and Evo) over-prevalence of spoilers here in Blighty, although as I've said before... my next 911 (should I be so fortunate) will take a more assertive duck stance because I do like the look *on a 911*... Maybe I forgot to grow up!
Anyway, sorry to interrupt 23 pages of debate, speculation and most importantly... passion.... The most important ingredient.
