No, it has been several months since I had it serviced. I will take a closer look at the fans. Thanks for your advice!

Mate, I would run it into the closest dealer asap
|
Loose connection. Dealer fixed yesterday. Same fault again today. Guess I am back to the dealer again at lunchtime...
|
Still at the dealer, day 3. Have had a Boxster S and a Cayenne Diesel for loaners so far. Wonder if I get to try out a Panamera next? :D
|
They ordered a new engine fan - it will be here in a few days. They said the car was drive-able until then. Woohoo, now to get my car back! :D

I just got the same fault... was it the aux fans above the engine in the back or the main fans in front of the front wheels? |

That message is specific to the fans on top of the engine. Common causes are electrical connector loose or not securely connected, or failure of one of the fan motors. Easy to determine. Easy to remedy, and should be warranty if the fan motor has to be replaced. Have seen this a bunch of times where one of the electrical connectors isn't seated properly after the fans are removed to service engine.....

By the way, one of the motors was noticeaby sticky turning... so I ordered two new ones from Suncoast, easy 5 min install and no more problems.
|
For future reference: it appears this problem with the fans is due to corrosion in the fan side connector, between the crimp pin and wire.
Pins can be replaced or soldered to resolve. |
I had this come up yesterday. Thank you VII7 for the suggestions!
