Spring finally arrived . . . time to break-out the GTS
I had to leave the car at the dealership for three months, but couldn’t take the wait any longer and finally picked it up at the end of March. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t much better then (second pic).
But finally, finally, spring came to the northeast, the snow has melted and I managed to take the car out for some quick pics around Boston.I have really bonded with this car. Like most of us, I obsessed (an understatement) about the color combo and I think through shear dumb luck, I got it so right for me – Dark Blue Metallic, Blue top, Espresso/Cognac interior. With the black TurboS CLs (which I have totally embraced), I think it’s aggressive on the outside and sophisticated on the inside. Not a combo for everyone, but as I say, it really works for me. If I was reordering today, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Did I mention that the GTS is spectacular to drive? Do I need to say the GTS is spectacular? It’s spectacular. It still has under 1,000 miles, but I feel it breaking in (or maybe I’m just learning how to drive it better). But I’m lovin’ it.
Finally, after a lot of back-and-forth I decided on the Stinger VIP radar and laser system. This is a crazy system and it’s stupid expensive. But I’m a techie and I love this technology. The radar defense is not a detector in the traditional sense. There are sensors mounted behind the front and rear bumpers. Stinger calls them “spectrum analyzers”. They are completely undetectable by radar detector detectors, and their detection range beats anything else on the market by far. Stinger had fallen behind ALP for laser detection, but they are just now upgrading to detect the latest guns. All of this is controlled by a nice compact touch screen. It’s iPhone-simple to use and the whole system is wildly customizable. It has a GPS-based memory function and data base like Escort. All bands can be individually turned off or muted at a specified speed (I’ve set it for no audible alerts below 40 mph). The result is the quietest detector that I’ve ever had (and I live in the middle of a city with boatloads of false signals). Also, the laser system can be set to stop jamming after a specified length of time, so you don’t have to frantically reach for the switch as you’re hitting the brakes on the highway. And finally, the display shows the direction of each alert similar to Valentine1. I never understood why the V1 guys loved this feature until I got the Stinger. Anyway, it’s a great system, but it’s not for the faint of heart cost-wise.
Btw, I had all my work done by Sound in Motion in Boston. I have to give them a shout-out for being the most crazy, most **** craftsmen I’ve ever worked with. If you’re in the area and demand perfection, you should check SiM out.

Regarding break-in period, I'm in the "drive it like you stole it" camp. The only things being broken in are my hands and feet as I find the optimal way to drive this beast. It's just too much fun!!
So anyway, let's get this over with.
Congratulations, bro. Welcome to the club I am not a member of yet (Cayman GTS traded in and 911 GTS on order). Really nice car.
Thanks!
