Rhodium vs GT side by side
I went to test drive a GTS prior to ordering for euro delivery this fall and one of the decisions I wanted to make was rhodium vs GT silver. There were two 991s side by side and I snapped this photo. I hope it helps those who are undecided..

Here is the pic flipped correctly so it is not the incorrect "mirror image" showing the cars as right hand drive and with the tow hook on the wrong side.

GT Silver. Every. Day. Every. Time. I forked $3K for this silver on my GTS...It's a lot for a "silver" but it looks amazing in person: deep, warm, and shows the 911 curves better than most colors (in my opinion).

For a long time I pretty much ignored GT Silver just because of what you said, its a "silver". Just never really looked at it. Once I did though, you are absolutely right, deep, warm and shows the curves. Its also one of those rare colors that somehow manages to look good under all kinds of lighting. Always good, yet never the same, is a great recipe for long term satisfaction.

I think that both look great, but vastly different, especially in bright light. GT silver is really nice, but for me not 3K nice. After half a dozen silver or gray cars, I ordered mine in white.

.....but to each his own. Some people dropped 5K on a stereo system or 4K on a leather dash and some stitching. I say spend the money where it makes YOU happy.

I'm not sure what I would've done if this color was not available.

Another thing, silver and white are the international racing colors of Germany. This is kind of old history, a lot of people forget (or never knew), but whether they know or not its a fact that exerts its influence over time. Seeing all those old photo's and racing video's over the years has an effect on people. Just look at the list and think about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._racing_colors So GT Silver has that going for it too.

It's definitely a personal choice. I happen to prefer the Rhodium because I prefer the lighter colors on the 991. Don't like grey and for me the GT Silver tends more to grey than to silver. Bonus is I get to spend $3K on something ELSE :-))
