Chirping sound from dashboard area under moderate acceleration
So when I accelerate in normal traffic, not flooring it or anything near that, I hear this faint chirping sound. It comes from the steering wheel / dash area. It is only under acceleration. It does not happen under breaking. It also does not happen when the car is stationery and I rev the engine.
I had this a year ago as well and it went away. Now it is back. Any ideas? I so do not feel like making a trip to the dealer just for this and I know by them time I will get there it will go away. It sounds like some plastic is rubbing against something else at that specific vibration (engine or exhaust) you are getting when accelerating moderately. I just can't figure out what it is. Thanks! |

Possibly insturment cluster, according to my shop foreman.
That matches my suspiscion. He said stuff makes contact in there and he had some things to try, that can remedy it. My car goes in next week. |

Dash Rattles Gone :) |
lunarx - thanks for the update!
I was hoping there might be a simple solution, as the thought of the dashboard being pulled apart does not make me happy :/ |
The whole dash off!? I have may be another 6-8 months on the lease. I don't feel like having the whole dash removed either. The car will be in the shop for days for that I bet. My door is rattling too. It sounds like the speakers can't handle a certain deep tone. This while listening to NPR, not even jamming.
The good news is, I can't hear a thing above 6000 rpm  |
