HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991
Looking at a 2012 991 C2S 28000mi nice build($115K) manual. Very clean! Dude wants $68K trying to reason with him, without luck. What's the HFS #
I'm thinking $60-62. KBB is $55-61
How do I approach without insulting?
PS: Have 2012-13 991's bottomed? How low can they go?
Thank you!!

It has been sitting for a while because,
1.) The GT3 market is in decline
2.) This is a high mileage example in an undesirable year. The car is a stripper but that can also be a positive.
But, the price is getting to be attractive, but why does the Carfax show so much "service" when the car was in Hawaii? The car has no warranty now.

Of course prices haven't bottomed. They will continue to depreciate like any other high production volume car. The steady values we've seen over the last two years seem to be breaking slightly. Based on what the market has been showing recently, I would think the car you describe is a fair deal $63-65k.

If he want 68 and you think 62, is it worth 6k to get it vs. wait for one you like equally well and the owner is asking 65? May really be just a couple thousand dollar spread. If you like it just get it, eh?
A 10% spread on a cool car you like is not worth wasting your time looking for another one.

Vincenz0, you got a killer deal on your car... fantastic build and add-ons! Now I see why you backed out of the deal on the one I bought. Very happy with my car, though.

Well, I did end up spending a lot more on a vacation to Seattle for my whole family to go pick up the car though! And they chickened out on the drive home and flew back from Portland -- same day airline tickets were not as cheap as I expected! And I think you got the better color.

In my opinion, a good way to gage the 991.1 market is to look at the 997.2 market. I know this is a controversial subject but I doubt a similarly equipped 991.1S will go below a 997.2S. If 997 cars start to appreciate, then you'll know the 991.1 may follow suit.
Lets face it, these cars were mass produced cars. The early ones are reaching 7-8 years. The depreciation curve is not as accelerated as, lets say, a Mercedes SL, but it will continue to depreciate. My prediction is that it may bottom out at around $35-40K, but that is just me. If you are in the market for 991.1 cars, just get the best one you can with your budget and enjoy it. If in the future it appreciates, good for you. Otherwise, just enjoy the time you have with it and expect a loss when you sell it.

I wonder what site provides the most accurate used car pricing. I think KBB is off (low?). Edmunds seems to be closer. Listing prices aren’t helpful in valuing. Sales price would be good and dealers have access to this info. I still think the right price is when the seller is willing to meet the buyer at a price to put the deal together (or vice versa). Meaning folks value certain features and aspects of a car differently. Any thoughts on the best pricing site?

My buddy sold a $121k MSRP 2012 C2S (PDK) with all the good options here anyone would want (18-ways, SPASM, PSE, SC+). The car was literally in showroom condition: it couldn't have been cleaner. If you didn't know it was a 991 and didn't see the odometer if it was sitting on the showroom floor, you would assume it was new. He listed it at $68k and it was listed too cheap.
There is something to be said for build and condition. If it had 35k miles and normal wear and tear, I would say low 60's, sure, but this one is just about perfect.

I would be surprised to see many 991 GT3 models dipping under $100k. They are just too good of a car. That is 2015 GTS pricing, and lets face it: the GTS can't hold the GT3's jock strap. I drove a GTS, and it was nice, but it felt like my C2S with SPASM and all the other goodies (18-ways). The GTS is special, but the GT3 is more special than others.

Looks like it was a Rennlister's car. Here's the old for sale ad:

Assuming everything checks out, it's a good deal at that price.
