We've seen cheaper. $97K with 47K miles is very aggressive. Geez, what will someone ask $ at 80K miles?

Here is my car that I traded into Porsche North Houston. They have it really competitively priced at $85k, I am actually surprised. There is a couple of glitches in the carfax report though - and by glitch, I mean false information. It reports that there was rear damage from the first owner, I had a PPI performed along with an inspection from another dealership after purchase and nobody could find any evidence of damage to the rear. Not to mention, this "damage" was reported AFTER I bought the car which is over 2 years after the "damage" occurred. The item that clearly shows misrepresentation from carfax is the last visit to Porsche of Plano where it says the rear wing was replaced/repaired along with a bunch of other items. The car was brought there for a day because of Change Over Valve issues. All they did was refit the hoses to the COVs. I am a little distraught with Carfax at this point and have decided that they are completely untrustworthy.
Anyways, if you want to pick up a nice 4S in a hard to come by color, here it is. I had more compliments driving that car around than I have with my white GTS. The car had a full paint correction and ceramic coating (including the wheels). It even has the alcantara gt sport multifunction steering wheel from the 991.2.
I would get with John Wright at Porsche North Houston on this one, he'll take care of you.

Only 15K miles and a CPO warranty which is sweet! John is great to work with for sure.
If inaccuracies in CarFax, would be in best interest of dealer and future owner to get it corrected.

I've tried, so did Park Place. We all got the same response, "the information is correct and we aren't going to tell you anything else", "no there isn't a police report but we don't need a police report because it just states damage and not accident", "we don't need to provide you with any other information and won't change anything". This is not the first time I've heard about Carfax doing this. I have a friend who bought a brand new Platinum F250 and when he went to sell it two years later, Carfax showed that it had front end damage. From what I was told, Carfax has been using a different company to do their reporting and ever since the switch, there have been more and more discrepancies.
14 million sources not 1.
Carfax runs data from over 14 million sources. I know this because i was the southeast data aquisition manager for many years. We partnered directly with police agencies so we could get accident data into the system quicker. Several thousand police departments participate in the program.
There are of course mistakes when dealing with the sheer volume of data any aggregator handles. It is strange that the dealer complained without result because dealers pay the bills at Carfax not consumers. I do think they have a formal resolutiom process in place but perhaps you already went through this ?

Yes, both Park Place and myself went through the formal process. Neither one of us were able to extract one ounce of information from them to substantiate the claim. I understand that mistakes happen, but when they do, Carfax should at least work with the consumer to resolve the issues. For example, I should be able to ask them to provide the information showing where the car had a wing repaired or replaced, they wouldn't be able to produce it - because it is 100% false. In that instance, they need to make it right by removing that from the report. Or if they can't provide proof that the front end of my friend's truck was damaged, then they should remove it from the report. People's car values are adversely affected by this. Regardless if it happens once or a million times, there should be a system for them to correct a mistake so that people don't lose thousands in their care value for a mistake on their end.
Wow. Pretty insane that Carfax can just plop something like that on a car, costing an owner immensely.
On the other hand, for that particular car, now a person has a huge bargaining weapon with the dealer, knowing full well first hand that the car had no damage.

Yep
Yes they do data acquisition in house, by purchase and any toher way they can think of. At one ponit the guys with pointy hats estiimated that Carfax had 14 records for every car with a title. Data is king. Bad data they hate. Like any company worth 100's of millions they make mistakes. Squeaky wheel axiom applies here but I guess your interest are no longer iinvolved. I would guess if the dealer made enough noise it would be corrected. Before I left Porsche was one of the last brand hold outs refusing to provide service records.
QUOTE=Capt_and;14775043]Hmmm, that is interesting. So they still do all of the data acquisition in house?

I disputed one and they pulled it. The vehicle was not even in the state they said the damage happened. Of course, I threatened to sue them which probably helped.
