HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991

This goes with my comment earlier about must haves vs nice to haves. Must haves can't be changed as easily later. Color combo, transmission, Cab, sunroof or not, PDCC, PTV, that kind of stuff. The two extremes I have seen are the STG approach, documented quite thoroughly here https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8674...s-journal.html, and the Hurricane approach where he got the best deal on the most spec'd out car I have seen. I have seen a base Carrera here with two inexpensive options as well as close to $190k list for an S. Find one with the must haves and jump on it. You can then enjoy spending from 0 to 10s of thousands to get it to where you want. Hell I even bought the stainless plastic gas cap because I like looking at it when I fill up and clean the car.

Yes. Extreme. Bought the car I wanted, read more on the forums and became corrupted. The "make it mine mod" bug came out.
Next time would probably find a car closer to what I wanted with some options, but was a fun project. All 100% OEM and done right.
Sometimes I look at the pictures and wonder what was I thinking doing that much work?
I guess really helped with my knowledge about these cars and ended up with a car I'm very happy about.

BTW, I can't click through to the listing either on my MAC. I tried Chrome and Safari. I can only watch a slide show of the pictures on sneak peek.

The black headlights and black wheels seem to work.

See post below from February. Surprised nobody bought it back then. Was $5K cheaper. How many price increases have we seen now on the same cars?
Wonder how it ended up at this new Mercedes dealer now?
The listing of the VIN # in postings really helps for digging up old cars.

Truth be told, I was perfectly happy with my first 991S that MSRP'ed around $122k. It had the essentials for me - an S, PDK, acceptable color (basalt black - I was looking for silver or black primarily), PDCC, SC, Bose, at least 14-way seats (got 18-way), PDLS, and heated/ventilated seats, low miles (7,200) and two years left on the factory warranty. Not to mention that it was $40k less than sticker.
Two years later and I was looking for possibly a 991.1 Turbo S CPO but the prices were still in the $140k+ range, more than I wanted to spend. I thought about getting a new 991.1S eventually with the options that I found that I desired but it was also more than I wanted to spend at the time. I really wanted one with adaptive cruise control.
When I stumbled across the second 991S that I wound up buying, it had adaptive cruise control and then I scanned the rest of the listing...HOLY CRAP! A dream build, and one that was very, very desirable to me. All the extras that I would have liked to have - full leather, CF trim, Burmester, Aerokit Cup...and many more extras that I wasn't even looking for (Powerkit, PCCBs, Sport PASM, CF illuminated door sill, CF MF steering wheel, yellow gauges/seat belts, aluminum-look fuel cap, glass sunroof, entry & drive, Porsche crest in headrests, Carrera Classics, 5mm spacers, and more). I've never seen a more loaded S coupe before or since then and no GTS build has ever quite tripped my trigger either, except for the Club Coupe (really regret not putting my name in the lottery for that one!).
Funny thing is that with this car I have kind of lost my desire for a 991 Turbo S. I still respect and admire them like crazy...guess I am just really content for now LOL. Plenty of power and toys in this car to keep me busy LOL.
Lots of great CPO or used 991.1's out there, in all kinds of different builds. The nice ones that are priced right won't sit for long. I learned much from Rennlist (before this thread was started) and learned much from just owning my first 991S. This thread (and others) has been great not only to help new buyers find some great cars but also to educate them about the car as well.

It's been a great place for service. I've never bought a car from them but have friends who have. Very happy with that dealership...
