I offered $69,000 (Halfway between where they were yesterday and where I was) and assumed we would come together today. He calls back 30 minutes later and said that someone from another lot was interested in the car but it was mine if I wanted it. I drove down to the dealership and took another test drive planning to pay their $70k based on responses here. I noticed the interior door sills starting to get a little wavy (wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been looking specifically for it). The salesmen mentions that he hopes management will honor the $70k during the drive which was the first I had heard of the price going back up. Back in his office I ask to see the deal paperwork and the salesman shows me a price of $71.5k and says it is because of the offer from another dealer in their network. I politely said I wouldn't consider anything over their previous ask of $70k and they say "have a nice day".

I am disappointed to loose the car that I was so close to owning that I didn't need to travel to a different state to see but there will be others.

Thanks again for all the Porsche education.
There is NFW I would buy a car with wavy door trim. Too many other nice 991's out there to consider.

I passed on a car last year for that very defect.

FWIW, the problem seems to be almost exclusively on early 2012.5 cars, without full leather, in hot climates.
I was lucky - I had my original 2012.5 991S (leather seats only) from years 2-4 of its life and never had that problem. But I would not be happy if that happened to my car. I would also pass on a car like that.

They were not covered under warranty?

I would think that they would be! However, some 2012.5's are no longer under warranty. You would think there would be some good will with this, though. Thankfully, never happened to me so I do not know...

The wavy door panel is a warranty item.

Not sure what the "sill" issue was about the Plat Silver C2S. Assume the ones being discussed?

Door panels are a warranty item if the car is under warranty... The one I looked at was not. The original owner probably could have had it addressed if he brought it in before the warranty expired, but the chances of a second or third owner getting PCNA to good-will a $4,000 cosmetic repair on an out-of-warranty car is pretty much zero.

^^ oh common, they can be pretty generous

Those door panels are very $$$ as noted.

I remember that cab a while back on here that had super low miles at a non P dealer had the issue.

It seems like the wavy door panels would have shown up before the warranty expired, and the owner would have gotten it fixed...

I just started doing my search. Since I live in California, I am trying to search for cars nearby. So, far my needs are quite simple: Low miles 991.1S, no blacks, PDK, Chrono and PSE. This one seems like a good choice, but there is no carfax to show me the history:

Any comments are greatly appreciated

I like the GR, Chrono and PSE, dislike the glass roof and lack of SPASM. The chrome window surrounds seem weird to me
too.

I agree.

Try for $75K, but start at $73K.

With the CPO, a fair deal, plus local to the OP as well.

^^^ Thank you for the responses. I'll try to contact the dealer. One of the pics show the driver's seat with some kind os strange indentation. I can't imagine what would have caused such a permanent dimple.
