Thanks PsychicDreamer
Great write up. Looking forward to downloading my music collection to the Burmester.

Nice work on this, especially for those not so tech savvy (like me). I'm following your instructions for my Burmester, so looking forward to the results. So far, it's going smoothly.

Still Not Seeing Your Music Show Up?

I've received a few personal replies on this issue.

If you're not seeing your music files show up on the PCM - after you've copied them to your USB key - it's because your music files are protected. The file extension will say .m4p

These are music files you purchased from the Apple iTunes Store before Apple removed the copy protection schemes.

The PCM will not display m4p protected files.

If you follow my original post, I'm having you create your library from the original CD's. The resulting AAC files will have an extension of .m4a

The PCM will allow the playback of m4a files.

I hope this clarifies the file extensions for you.

Has anyone gotten artwork to show up on a Bose 2012 991? I didn't read through the instructions too carefully, but have had no trouble moving pieces of my iTunes library to a 64 GB Patriot Supersonic Rage stick (mentioned here on RL). But I've never gotten the artwork to show up in the car.

12 won't show artwork.
That feature came out on later 13 models.

Thanks. That was my concern. Guess that wouldn't be a good reason to swap out my otherwise perfect car.

This is a great DIY writeup, I have yet to have a chance to use the jukebox feature, but I am starting this project now. Curious, what are play back options like in the jukebox? Can you play by genre, for example?

Any idea why the new Adele album doesn't show song names and album title, also cover art?

As far as I know the 2012.5 models do NOT have an internal hard drive (jukebox) to hold your music, so you have to play it from the external USB drive. The jukebox hard disk was added to MY2013.
