Default Frustrated with Navigation

I have navigation in my other cars but the one in my 991 is just frustrating the hell out of me. If I try to go to a POI and search by name it limits the radius to about 3 miles from my current location. Every other car allows me to put in the name that I am looking for and really doesn't limit the distance it may be from my location. Even my $99 Garmin will do it. Anyone know how I can expand how far out it will search? I have had to look up the address on my phone and then enter it in the car.

I can't help other than to say it might be best to use Waze on your smartphone. Realtime traffic, heads up on police and POI's are updated daily. I've haven't used my in car GPS in any of my cars in three years.

This was discussed last year. I don't remember if any solution was found.

My solution is to just use my iPhone for navigation. Waze gives me realtime traffic, too.

This is sad when my $25K Ford with Microsoft Sync can do it but my $100K+ Porsche cannot.

If you want true frustration try entering address using the voice control.

What a waste of technology

You can try using the AHA app. It has a POI/navigation section.

it is sad that everyone is using a navigation phone app on a $100K plus car -- sad and laughable at the same time

Well I finally got an answer on how to search for a POI. Go to POI and then select Search Radius and select a country and then a state and then select Accept. You can then search by name for the whole state.

+1 for Waze. The real time traffic and dynamic re-routing is for all roads, not just major highways. Plus road hazard alerts, real time road closure info, traffic cop alerts - the list goes on and on. And it is very gentle on your data plan. Not to mention that it's one of the few app, in my experience, where the Android version is just as good as the iPhone version. They even have a Windows Phone version, though I can't speak to it's quality.

My frustration is when you plug in your destination and it gives you two or three choices of routes, the graphic showing the different routes is so poor that you can't really discern which one is the best. I wish there was more detail or a text description so you could more accurately choose the route you want to take.

Try the navigation on the Ferrari California T sometime.

The California T will cost you 10x what the Ford will ($250k versus 25k) and its UI will make Ford's look like a Mac versus the Commodore 64.

Don't forget to flame the living daylights out of the manufacturers on any and all surveys for equipping your car with these systems. I think my exact language was something along the lines of "Suggest that you buy the programmers an iPad for Christmas."

I asked about this when I first got my 991 and found it infuriating.

If you search by name for the whole state how do you get it to list POI that are close to you? I tried that method before and it showed ones hundreds of miles from me
