Executive summary: The Cabriolet looks great with the top down parked. The Targa top is a crowd pleaser going up, or down. The Coupe is a killer drive. The 3.4, great mileage, 3.8 great performance, X-51 great to redline. Also, they come in great colors. But we only got silver.

- targa wind noise not so good as cabriolet
- PDEM not worth it
- PDK + 3.8L is good
- SPASM + PDCC a good combo
- passive suspension (carerra) too soft

Guess I was hoping they would actually track them against each other lol..just for fun sake. I know the coupe 3.8 would win but would be nice to see how close the targa and cab come in..esp with the targa v cab comparison as the targa I think has a stiffer body with more torsional rigidity

I just think it would be a fun comparison, if they have the cars out there!

"Driving it:
Porsche wants the Targa to be as good to drive as any other 911 and as it has half the torsional rigidity of its Carrera chums, it’s probably best to compare it to the Cabriolet. It gives away 40kg to the fully-open 991 – thanks mainly to that lovely rear glass, which means the weight gain is mounted high up. The T4S PDK weighs a considerable 3500 lbs. (est.) all-in – but the rollover hoop fights back for the Targa by introducing stiffness into the body. At 15,000Nm per degree versus the Cabriolet’s figure of just over 13,000Nm, the Targa is 15 per cent more resistant to flex."

The targa is only 50% as rigid as the coupe, granted, but in fact is 15% more rigid than the cab due to the roll bar design. See article link below, under section "driving it"

Why care about any performance differences between these cars? Cabs and Targas are made for people for whom the 911 already has more than enough performance. People happy to sacrifice performance for something they want more. Otherwise, to pay an extra $10-12k premium for a Cab or Targa that they KNOW is only going to make the car weigh and flex more is just plain nuts. But these buyers are not nuts. They know what they're doing. They're buying a car to be seen in. Which for some reason people really hate to acknowledge. So lets just say its for reasons other than performance. So, again, when it comes to Cabs and Targas, who gives a hoot about which is faster? We should all just be happy they no longer twist like a pretzel- no small accomplishment, that- and leave it at that.
