Make sure the initial paint correction is done right, and perfectly. Everything else after that point is a turnkey operation.
yup the guy that is doing it stressed to me that correction is 80% of the job.

My car is going in to Phil at Detailers Domain next week for a detail, Opti Coat and Xpel Ultimate wrap on the front half. I can't wait to have it properly protected!

I usually take care of all of my own detailing (clay, polish, seal, etc.) and have installed Opti Coat 2.0 myself before. Phil is one of the few people that I fully trust to do the right job, so I'm letting him take care of the whole thing turn-key.

I was impressed with Opti coat 2.0 in the past... I'm looking forward to seeing how the Pro version compares.

Yes he does!

I've been buying almost all of my detailing products from him for 8 years or so and have always been amazed by the results in his write-ups on the boards.

While I am always proud of my results and think that I am pretty good, I'm looking forward to seeing what a real pro can do!

Doing OptiCoat on the Xpel allows both the covered and uncovered part to age similarly, but the problem is the paint underneath the Xpel is not coated, so if you ever take off the Xpel ...

I suppose you could OptiCoat, apply Xpel, then OptiCoat the Xpel ....
Opti-coat is chemically formulated to be compatible with, and bond to, the paint's chemistry. By doing so, it fills in the valleys in the paint's orange peel and thereby increases the refractory (mirror-like) gloss. No Opti-coat on the paint and just on the Xpel defeats the purpose of using it.

Default Opti-Coat

I have all of my vehicles Opti Coated (PRO) after a full paint correction directly post delivery. The biggest help to me is that the car simply does not get as dirty as it used to - dusty yes, but not really dirty, and washing appears to be easier.. I also have the inner barrel and outer of the wheels machine polished prior to Opti Coating. Brake dust is hardly a problem anymore (on my M3) - the C4S is new, so it's at the detailer this week for a coating, Opti Coat PRO or Modesto, Modesto is more expensive, however it really makes the paint pop, so look at both options, both are great, as is CQ. My detailer clear bra's after paint correction and places the Opti Coat on the clear bra - IMHO, this makes the glossy finish of Opti Coat look consistent over the entire vehicle, it looks great on white or non metallic colors while metallic colors simply emerge s never before.

I love the idea of it. I would miss waxing my car though. I do love the smell of carnauba. How far from central jersey is that part of Long Island?
