In the eight months I've had this car, none of my friends have asked. That probably means I have the right friends. If asked, I would likely defer and say, "It was a major splurge, but I am really getting a kick out of it."
When asked if I bought it new, which has come up, I say (truthfully) that "It was a new leftover 2012 and I got a great deal on it."

I always answer with a respectful more than I should have. Many of my good friends know I'm a car guy and the cost of happiness for a car guy often far exceeds what is "reasonable" for most people. I'm a engineer that moved into a different career on accident many years ago so I often smack myself in the side of the head when I think about what I spend on some of these cars but in the end if you spend a lot of time in your car during the day you should make it as enjoyable as possible.

Hi, great topic. Indeed an difficult question when people ask. If you need to defend the price, refer 'em to this brilliant youtube vid by Matt :

Fast forward to 5.30" where Matt makes an interesting comparison between some alligator handbags and then goes on to say the epic words: "...Expensive doesn't necessarily mean rip-off. Yes, this car is a 150 thousand dollars. But it is 150 thousand dollars worth of fine German automobile; I assure you that..."
