Porsche: There is no substitute.
Despite all signs indicating otherwise, my wife secretly catered to my love for older Porsches and surprised me tonight with this gift...now to get it framed:

This poster was hanging on my wall in college. 993S is my favorite P car body and I wanted to get one for some time just don't want to get stock in a middle of nowhere or it to become a money pit.

It's amazing that 40 year old + Porsches don't look dated. Also, Porsche's slogan is true. I've owned 911s for over 40 years, and from time to time I think I'll buy another brand, until I take a test drive. If there's another car out there that can provide the overall driving experience of a 911, I haven't found it yet.

In the past I often admired older 911's but never really APPRECIATED them. Since buying a 991 i have grown to LOVE the older models... I actually feel envious of all those who have 'known the secret' for longer than me and looked at an air cooled model driving past me today with complete admiration... Those in the know are very lucky... My luck is just starting...

My second car was a 914 and I was bitten by the Porsche bug ever since. It was so fun to drive and so balanced from a handling, power and braking perspective. Something i enjoy in my 991, although the level of handling, power and braking are orders of magnitude better.

The 911 has been my "go to" for sports car lust. But when I finally get around to looking into buying a vintage Porsche, I think the first one I'd go for is a 1989 944 Turbo S in Alpine White w/ the black leather Recaros. (Not to get too specific or anything.)

I had this same magazine Ad hanging on the wall of my bedroom from 1975 until....1981-ish...when I graduated from college. I need to get a framed copy to hang in the garage!

Ignorance is bliss; you are so wrong! I had two 928's, an 89 GT and a 93 GTS, both 5 speeds. They are/were very much a Porsche. On spirited drives with the PCA group I never had a problem keeping up. As newer models came out only the four wheel drive cars could leave me behind. My 991 TTS is what the 928 would be today if Porsche was still producing them.
