thats fine - it's what you wanted. I think the OP is undecided, thus the test drive suggestion.

Disclaimer : Do not want a MT7 vs PDK war ... just giving me $0.02.

I would never go for an traditional Automatic ...

however ... I have loved sequential gearboxes since they arrived (my first was SMG in a BMW M3), then when dual clutch came on market, I promptly upgraded.

Since that I have not looked back (btw, I drove manuals for 17 years before I even touched my first automatic). For active driving I feel I can get more engaged in turning, as I can keep both hands on the steering wheel, while I can enjoy the better mileage, as well as easy living in rush hours.

PDK is just lovely, and a very well suited gearbox for the 911.

Agreed. No wrong choice. It's still a porsche no matter how you skin it

I will go drive two this week and report back. I have not driven the 911 with pdk, but drive a lotus in both pdk and mt. The pdk had a delay when downshifting, which I did not like. I then decided to stay loyal to Stuttgart. What was I thinking?

If you ask nicely you can have the ABS deleted. Threshold braking gives you so much more control. Controlling all the systems manually is like a breath of fresh air. Now if only the x-51 included a 4 barrel carb.

If you want to feel connected to and in control of the car while driving fast, PDK is a must ! You loose much of that connection and control when shifting a MT !

I'm hoping for an 8 MT. That way I never have to have 2 hands on the wheel!

I'm hoping for an option that allows me to crawl into the back and change the gears myself while driving.

If you are looking for something semi-specific in the CPO arena, you'll likely either end up with whatever it has in it (odds are PDK) or possibly pass up a better car for you for a while or have to settle for other things you'd rather have different to get the transmission of your choice.

I test drove both when I was considering ordering. Loved them both. Was going to go MT mostly to save 4 grand which to me was too much to spend on something that was essentially a tie in my mind. But then I found a great deal on an almost perfectly equiped CPO with a PDK so I went with that. No regrets.

If you do go with MT, I'd highly sugest SCP. You don't have to enable it, but its an awesome feature and you will miss not having at least the option for it. You also get the fancy mounts and a third throttle map and some other integrated things.

Any MDs here got a copy of the DSM-V? There's got to be a chapter on this guy somewhere in there.
