I just used a diamond tread pattern product that comes in various size rolls. Company is G-floor. Costco often sells the rolls in-store, but they don't show it on their website. (roughly 60% of the retail price everywhere else.) Had it for 4 months now - handled all the winter drippings quite well. Easily power wash every thing off once in a while, just sweep it in between or squeegee when wet.. Easy to pull out into the driveway if you ever need to. Whole 3 car garage cost me $650, took about an hour and a half to lay it out.
I like the fact that nothing falls through to the floor underneath.

your SN should be TheQuestions lol...

application of epoxy finish is going to be dependent on how your floor is currently finished. if you want it to actually last, you may have to blast your surface so that you can actually get good adhesion. its going to cost a pretty penny too especially if you want it done right.

even if existing floor looks like crap, you could get it polished and have a great looking floor. as a contractor, nothing is sexier than a beautifully polished floor.

One thing to keep in mind is the level of your area water table. I really really really wanted a beautiful epoxy floor when we refinished our garage interior, but the contractor strongly recommended against it since we have a relatively high water table here on Long Island. He said that no matter how good the prep work / waterproofing / vapor barrier, water would find its way up to the floor and cause bubbling of the surface within a couple of years. So I went with tile instead and it's been fine.

I have the plastic tiles from garagetek. easy to clean and easy to put down. If you get them remember to leave ONE INCH space between all the edges and the walls. The tiles expand and shift.

I epoxied my garage floor when I bought my present house about 10 years ago. If your concrete is old you have to acid etch it, which is not fun. One of the side effects of an epoxy floor is the concrete is now sealed and will not allow any water to soak in, so if you pull in during a rain, you will get lots of puddles on your floor. After slipping on the smooth flooring a couple times, even though it had traction flecks in it, I bought three parking mats, which solved the issue with the water.

Thanks. I am very glad to have an epoxied floor, however. It makes it very easy to keep clean. I have a Black and Decker cordless blower (basically an electric broom, not a powerful blower) that does a perfect job of sweeping it out.

Thanks to all for chiming in. Loving the pictures!

I'm thinking of doing the metallic chips (gold) 1/4". There is stuff called "mica" color that I thought was fairly memorable and worth doing + a few extra hundred bucks. I'll be hiring someone, I did this myself once to mediocre results. To epoxy correctly you need to etch and use a machine to grind etc. plus wear a respirator around the acid. The square overlay systems are more expensive than the epoxy I'm looking at and I haven't found one (like Race Deck etc.) that is for my taste (but they are very nice and anyone would be lucky to have one).

If you guys want to play around with some wild colors try this:

http://www.torginol.com/design/

You can do lime green, blue, red, mix etc. Kind of cool, but maybe not the best for property value? They say a neutral tone is better for that.

Swisstrax. Coating, polishing, etc looks good at first and if you never use it or spill anything on it.
