Default noisy brakes replacement

My dealer told me today that Porsche is replacing front brake pads do to excessive noise with a pads by different manufacturer. I got a base 991 don't know if same goes for the S or turbo. Scheduled an appointment for next week.

Nice way to get a free front brake service for guys with miles on their car. Good for them. Good on Porsche, too.

Ask your dealership for the TSB# and post it here.

I just asked my service rep and he had no idea about this and just told me to read the manual again (there is a blurb about noisy brakes, etc). Sigh.

Please provide more details! Is there a service bulletin about this?

I was supposed to come in to have my brakes looked at tomorrow but they called today saying they need to order new front pads that Porsche is recommended to be replaced on the car and he changed my appointment. This all I was told by the survive guy. Will post more info once I have it done.

Please post details when you get them. I'm curious as to the quality of the pads (duration, stopping power, fade, etc) I wonder if its a "stopping neutral" fix (to a minor problem) or if they just put soft Lexus pads on it for the bankers and neurologists for their reserved parking spots in Manhattan high rises.

I'm at about 65% pad life remaining, but wouldn't mind a free set. But I don't want to replace the with something inferior in any way.

My dealership not only washes my Porsche to my complete satisfaction without damage, but cleaned absolutely covered-with-soot tailpipes making them look almost brand new last service. I was amazed. But then, I have a good dealership. They do exist.

Thanks OP for this info - will check on it also.

I did't seen this before but there is a cut out at the top of the rotor.
Looks like done for balancing the rotor.
Did it come from the factory like this or dealer did it?
Look like it got same patina on the cut at the rest of the suffice

Those aren't cuts, they're molded into the rotor blank and facilitate clamping during machining.

Anyone else have luck in finding out what kind of pads / getting the dealership to replace them? Wouldn't mind free pads but like others have stated would love to know what kind

Based on Zohan's invoice, I'd say you want part number 991-351-939-00.

If it was so r and l rotors would have identical marks. First pic was a passenger side. This is driver side rotor.
