I imagine it was very tough resisting the temptation to strangle the guy.

My Cayenne Diesel was hit by a snowplow with $4700 damage and I too feel that diminution of value is a valid claim. I'd like to hear more on your claim.

I will update the DV claim as I learn more. Apparently it varies by state. I'm in NC and there are clear statutes saying there is DV after an accident but it's not clear how to arrive at the value. The agent for the guys insurance company told me they will be writing me a check. He said the have an in house appraiser but he knows that would be low so he paid for an independent valuation (haven't heard back yet). If I'm happy with that, I'm done. If not, I can get another appraisal at my expense this time and they will average or negotiate from there.

I have since learned that it would have been better if I had the repairs done by a Porsche certified repair shop. The closest one is a couple hours away though. If I take the car there now, they will certify the repair and help with the DV claim as well.

I'll keep everyone posted as a reference for anyone else unfortunate enough to have this happen to their Porsche.

Another satisfied customer? Those root canals can cause resentments.

As much as I wanted to strangle him, for some reason I was calm and restrained.
When I got the police report, I recognized the name, a former neighbor's son, a retired dentist who used to be a good referral and the kid has had a lot of trouble over the years. The dad has called to make sure everything is ok. At the end of the day, it's just a car and it's all better now. I was surprised how much i missed it over the months- it really is an amazing car.

Was it this guy by any chance?

When I saw your picture... I threw up all over my computer.

You certainly handled that entire situation well. I don't think i would have had the same reaction...

Talk about handling a tough situation with grace and a well-grounded perspective. Kudos to you, sir. Glad you have your car back. Enjoy it! And good luck with the insurance claim.

Update on DV claim. I settled today. The other guys insurance hired an independent appraiser. He determined that my car was worth $92k before the accident and $85k after so they are sending me a check for $7,000. The damage was superficial and it's perfect now. I checked with my local dealer and a Porsche certified repair shop and they said it was fair. To contest or appeal it would involve attorneys and too much trouble. I'm happy and have my car back.

Keep in mind that down a road when you sell the car the price difference between the car that was or was not repaired with diminish. So it is a win?
All's well that ends well. enjoy the car.
Where in NC are you? I am in Greensboro.
