As always your DIY in excellent even for ppl who can't read
I did my oil change w/on jacking up the car. You don't have to if you and the oil pan are not too fat. But lifting the back of the car should help with drainage as it tilts the engine toward the drain opening. I drained mine over night and used 9 quarts of Mobil.

Thanks Matt. One popped off violently by accident as I wiggled it around, and the other popped off like in the video after a little more force. The end result is a much cleaner look. Funny how there was so much more slack in the video. Porsche used the bare minimum of wiring for my car, making it a tight fit with the screwdriver.

Matt-Does the blend mount Max RD impair your vision from the drivers seat?

it would be cool to have the car journals as a subfolder!

No, it doesn't. Most of the time I don't even notice that it's there. I would probably pop the detector off if I were at the track, but otherwise it's pretty unobtrusive.

Default Maintenance Spreadsheet

Attached is my rather crude but effecitve maintenance spread sheet that I keep on all of my cars. I know there are fancier ways to do it with apps or software.

On a side note, I never, ever create a summation of the total cost of ownership. I don't want to know.

Just read all 12 pages (which I never do)...really nice thread - definitely a good read.

I don't believe I've seen your M3 in person...but I remember reading either a journal or FS ad somewhere (maybe M3post). Beautiful car it was but the 991 is simply a work of art.

Will definitely follow and I'm sure I'll see it around Orlando at some point.

BTW - The journal and photos are great...but I'm more impressed with your garage then anything else lol. Racks for cleaning products is simply awesome!

Thanks! I'm was/am on M3 Post quite often. I'm sure that's where you would have seen my M3. I can't wait to get my new F80. I feel like I joined the M club and then handed back my membership card in favor of the P-Car club. I can start wearing my M shirt and hat again soon.

Thanks for the write-up about the oil change. I just did mine last weekend. I was able to do with without jacking the car up - I just backed out from my garage a bit until the backend was hanging out - the small lip of my garage floor gave me enough room to work under there. I ended up putting 7.5 quarts in. Total for parts and oil was $85. Pretty easy job and it was fun discovering that I had an engine under all those plastic covers .

It cost me $30 shipped for the filter, crush washer, rubber gasket and $85 for the oil. So it cost me $115. I wanted to jack to car up to survey the exhaust for my install of the AWE that's coming up. The install looks like it's going to be super easy.
