Sport Design Aerokit Package vs. Duck Tail only

Hey guys,

I'm a couple of weeks away from my C2S Cab being delivered. While I am extremely pleased with my build... I saw a duck-tailed 991 in the parking lot at the Ring and I immediately knew I should've checked that dang box.:to_order:

But fear not... I can get 'em from Suncoast, so oh well. But the question I have is, on their web site it says:

Porsche only recommends using this wing for cars with the Sport Design Front Bumper
well I can't think of a functional reason why I can't just go with the tail and I know that the tail/spoiler package is just $500 more, but would it look dorky if I have the tail but not the front spoiler?

Reason I ask is because I have a pretty steep rise on my driveway and I don't want to reduce ground clearance anymore than standard.

Secondly, does anybody know a reputable shop that can install this in southern LA County or OC? What's it gonna run me for paint and install?

Thanks!

Mine is factory SD kit & read somewhere if rear spoiler is installed later - sunroof equipped cars
need some (?) reprogramming for the roof & that's it!

5 3/4" inches clearance for the front spoiler.

I have not come close to scraping the front of mine yet. It looks lower than it really is.

Love the sport design/ ducktail on a white car!

I understand Porsche itself will only supply the "ducktail" if you have the Sport Design front bumper as well. Perhaps not a real issue in North America but on the Autobahn at high speed the balance of the car will be off from what Porsche has designed if you only have the ducktail. You'll get downforce on the rear of the car and the front could go light on you with perhaps a disastrous effect.

The various front spoiler lips are designed to work in tandem with the rear elements. Porsche won't install one without the other. As John said above, this can be a big deal at speed. I'm sure in normal driving it doesn't matter all that much.
Keep in mind, as beautiful as the styling is on these cars, Porsche starts with "function" and makes it beautiful rather than just hanging cool looking bodywork on them. In my opinion, if you change the rear spoiler, put the proper front end on the car...otherwise, you're doing it wrong.

If you're worried about clearance, the sport design bumper has a separate bottom lip piece that costs only $200, so if you do end up scratching it a lot, you can just replace the bottom lip.

Love the look of the ducktail.

We have the SD. The only part that scrapes occasionally is the left and right black ( yellow car) plastic diffusers that hang lower than the spoiler itself. We have traversed many a swale and mounted many a speed strip.

Aaaaah! That's better. Screw it. I went with the front and back, and I must say that even though the front spoiler was an afterthought for me, I'm liking that front end better and better.
