Wiper Moves when turning off the car, is it normal??
 

I have noticed that as I turn off the key I see the wiper blades move, just a little, like a knee jerk reflex, about 1inch up and then back down.
I wonder why, no other car I ever had does that. It does not really bug me but I would think that I could end up scratching the windshield where the wipers rest.

Has anyone else noticed that???

Yep, normal. Weird, but normal.

Don't know about Porsche, but Lexus does something like this because they found that a lot of the noise wipers make when they change direction is caused by the blade spending so much time in the one position where it stops. So they made it move the wiper a little and stop in alternating positions. Look close. If the blade angle flips back and forth each time that's what it is. If not, oh well you just learned something about Lexus!

Seems like a good feature if it keeps the wipers from taking a set and becoming less effective, but between this and the constant window lowering and raising, I hope Porsche has the durability issues worked out!

I thought my CLS was over engineered. The most quiet place in my house is not in my house at all. It's on the nice leather sofa in my garage. Summer evenings I'll go there to read. My Merc would make all kinds of buzzing, servo motor sounds and airmatic suspension leveling hours after I parked the car. I just kept thinking, man I don't think this car ever rests.

Just like the wipers, the clock (w/sport chron) and windows, the 911 sleeps even more restless than the Merc. It'll be "working" on all kinds of tasks after we park it.

I guess if you haven't spent any quality time with your 991 for a few hours after you park it you would never know! :D

The wipers move to change the position. The rubber life will be prolonged. If they stay for too long in the same position, eventually they will deform. All Audis and VWs have this feature.

I just noticed this a couple days ago.

I've encountered this before on one of the cars I've owned, could've been an Audi or the VW we owned for less than a year :), can't remember

Seems like a good idea, but I would imagine the cost of wiper replacement is cheaper than the engineering. Sure you might save the blades, but what about when the wiper motor goes from going up and down 10,000 times. Seems funny.
BTW my MB and BMW coupes all lower and raise the window when entering and exiting, been like this for 10+ years. Gotta love all the "needless" stuff some engineer decided was necessary:thumbup:

Perfectly normal and intended.
Prevents the rubber from sticking to the glass if you have a bit too much grime collected on the glass and don't like washing cars.
Does it every 10 power cycles or so. It's one of those many little things Porsche does right.

it happens on Vdubs and my 991. Havent noticed it on the Cayenne.
