strong smell of fire in my 2014 C2S today!

Hi rennlist'ers,

This evening when I pulled my car in to the garage there was a super strong smell of burning. Like charcole/fire. Opening my garage door to the home brought the smell in to the house. After looking everywhere it was almost certainly coming from inside the rear wing / engine.

I backed the car out on to the drive way for an hour and left it to "cool". I could not see any smoke nor damage - but almost certain that this thick burning smell was coming from the car!

My drive home is around ~3 miles - mostly 45mph / 35mph residential, although I did have the rear wing up, sport mode (not sport plus!) on and sport suspension on. The car is just over a month old and barely has 1000 miles on her.

I plan to take her to the dealer tomorrow - but what the heck? has anyone ever seen or heard of this before?!

probably a plastic bag or something you ran over and it got stuck to the exhaust or your engine is on fire, hopefully the first option:). I remember my AMG having some burnt smell when it was brand new. Keep us posted and good luck!

yes I've smelled that a couple of times. Couldn't figure out what it was, and didn't seem to have any adverse effect

PDK or manual?

Your first Porsche?

My guess is that you are burning off the Cosmoline.

It's the coating on the exhaust.

Yup, could be something you ranover and got stuck to some hot bits on the motor. Though for giggles I would still take it to Porsche to have it checked over.

To me that Cosmoline crap doesn't have that strong enough smell or ability to waive its way into tma house like described above.

There's no cosmoline on the cars anymore. the exhaust is coated and it burns off with use....for peace of mind, take it to Porsche (don't let them wash the car) and drink their coffee and eat their bagels.

Bagels? You get bagels?

Donuts at my place. Every service results in hyperglycemia shock. And, that's before I get the bill:surr:

Croissants, muffins, all sorts of other goodies and really, really good coffee !
Yes, one way to sweeten the bill - don't for one second think that it's "free".

Did not know about this change. Thanks. Did they stop with the 997 or the 991?

My dealer only has K cup coffee and granola bars. Damn I'm missing out.

How about the two protective film covers on top of the aluminum plaques atop the engine? Some guys forget to remove them if the dealer didn't and they can come off and make their way to something hot and melt.

Bagels, coffee, hot chocolate, donuts, bottled water before or after the massage.
