Licence Plate on front bumper

So it is mandator to have a front license place.

I can't imagine drilling a hole into the front bumper and want to go without.
I don't see any cars here with the license plate on front.

What is your experience, did you get tickets and if so, how much did it cost you?
After you pay the ticket, are you done or do you need to show that it is fixed?
Are there alternatives?

Please share ..

I tried that once. Got a ticket after about 2 months so I put back the plate. It was years ago but I think it was about$100. That was on my first 911.....4th arriving soon but I'll just leave on the front plate.

Rennline makes a very nice billet tow hook mount for the plate.

Do I need to take it to a shop to install? It still looks like it is drilled in somewhere in the front. Does it not interfere with the sensors installed for front and rear parking assist?

I hated to do it, but I put the plate on. No plate is just a reason to get stopped (in Connecticut). Guess a hole in the bumper is better than the hassle from local cops looking to pull folks over.
Sad but true.

Front plates are not required in MI.

That's it. You can easily install at home. Just assemble (allen wrench) and mount on the car by removing the plastic tow hook cap, and screw in.

Good point about Park Assist. Not sure. Ask Rennline.

jlanka 09-28-2013 09:17 PM

it won't work with park assist

Here us the answer if you have the parking sensors:

NY wants to see the plate so I have one.

Jeffdehr 09-29-2013 06:40 PM

I'm in NY which requires a front plate. I struggled with the decision of the front plate. I picked up the car on Friday and didn't have the plate installed by the dealer. I didn't want to mess with the beauty of the front end.

Over the past 3 days I noticed about half of the other 911s I saw had the front plate on them.

I just installed the front plate myself. I used the official Porsche plate holder my dealer gave me. It fit perfectly - has a little alignment notch that matches on the bumper for perfect center placement.

I have the front parking sensors and the radar cone for the Active Safe / Adaptive Cruise Control, the plate holder doesn't interfere at all.

It took me about 20 minutes to get the courage to drill 2 holes in my 3 day old bumper!

I'm glad I did. I think it looks fine. I'd be more upset getting a ticket.

Go low tech and use the 3M all weather 2 sided tape.

I've been going for years without front license plates in my two plate state, and have had a total of three tickets in over 20 years. Two were dismissed, one was about $100. We just had change in state traffic code that redefined the maximum fine for this and I've been pulled over twice just for the plate and only by state troopers, given warnings both times.
Can only speak for my area, but no LE's seem to care but the state ones, and I can live with getting a ticket occasionally. Getting pulled over just for that is a hassle, but I can live with it.

No front plate required in FL
