Maybe the colors of the 911-50 have to grow on you. I don't know. I'm completely happy now with my decision.

That is a beautiful color-combo. However... That color is Aqua Bkue Metallic and it isn't available anymore for MY2014. It's replaced with Sapphire Blue Metallic which is lighter and has a different hue.

Here is a picture I found. Left is Aque Blue metallic, Right is Sapphire Blue metallic.

I've seen Sapphire in the sun and it is drop dead gorgeous IMO.

Color choices and lack of sport design package. Was hoping geyser was more white or graphite less ugly. Can't get another black car (too much work to keep clean and swirl free). In the end, as much as I loved the idea of owning an anniversary edition like this one, the choices offered weren't a good fit. I could see myself buying a car like that in my 50's but I'm 32 and it just looks dated which I am well aware was on purpose.

Age has nothing to do with it. I'm 66 and agree with you about the poor and limited color choices, plus I hate the wheels. I think this special edition will be a special flop.

That Geyser Grey color seems to be a new trend. Maserati introduces its new Ghibli in a similar color, allthough it suits that car better than the 991 IMHO.

Very pretty car btw

I would agree with that statement...if I'm in any non-US market. For those of us in the US, the 50th is essentially a GTS. Yes it is still more expensive than the GTS (whenever that comes out) but we pay more for getting it early and the special badge job.

I think Porsche should've made the powerkit standard across the world and cut the price down by another $4-5k, in order to make it more appealing. I agree there's no point getting the car with just a paint job and some badges. I don't see them selling it out in Europe. The widebody/RR combo isn't that special either: for a bit more u could get the GT3, which truly is the most "bang for the buck" in the entire Porsche lineup.

Sapphire blue metallic reminds me of my Audi RS 6 Sprint Blue Metallic.

Disagree on the flop or age requirement! It will be a "different" car, maybe not a collectible. In North America it is pretty good value with the leather interior, powerkit, exhaust, etc. It is simply a pretty good build for the money and exactly what I was looking for in moving from my '06 997.

+1.

The argument that PTS spoils the limited edition concept seems strange to me when the stock color options include dark gray and black
So true.

There's nothing limited or distinctive about dark gray and black. (Geyser gray is unusual, but having seen it, I think good taste will keep it that way.) Prior limited edition colors like true blue (Speedster), British racing green (PCNA), and various GT3 oranges and greens were far more interesting.
My Slate Grey 964 looks stunning, but these cars need to be PTS and put a smile on everyone's face when it goes by. Too much grey in the world today...

I would love nothing more than to PTS the 991_50 and create a one-of-a-kind edition of the anniversary car. A killer PTS color, the unique 911_50 design elements, 7MT, and the value pricing of the overall package - that's a winning combo IMO.
100% I'd love to see a PTS parked next to a couple "stock" 991_50s. That would be the fun, rare car to own. It would be even better if it was daily driven, true to the original concept 50 years ago...

Sascha Glaeser is sharing requests for PTS with Stuttgart. The more who request, the better our chances of getting it. I'll order my 911_50 in Mexico Blue if they eventually allow it.

If they would only do something about those wheels...

I was in for the Geyser Grey but have switched to black. It may be harder to keep up but a well maintained black car will always look good. I also think the wheels will look best on a black car.

I have a sneaking suspicion that as a collectable this car won't hold its value. It just seems that the proportions are all wrong to try and do a retro number on the car. It would need to be considerably smaller for me to find the overall package attractive. The wheels look horrific. The Fuchs style really looks great on a high sidewall tire but not when they are wrapped with rubber bands.
