Deactivating 991 Auto Stop/Start Permanently

im not saying it would be impossible.. but I did spend about an hour this morning trying to find a way around it and nothing worked - the only thing I didn't try was changing country coding..

Oddly enough, it seems to be a build option on the car as to whether or not this feature is available. The option number is 787. I don't know if a dealership can use this to enable it on your car or not.
Here is an excerpt of the detailed build sheet I got from Suncoast Porsche for my car with the line of interest marked in red ($10 fee on their website if you give them your VIN).

I might ask my SA about that. I'd love it if it was an option. Hate the damn thing.

Also, has anyone with a 2017 asked their SA if Porsche is offering to code it off officially? I remember when BMW introduced A/S/S a couple of years ago, they backtracked (due to customer complaints) and offered to code it off free of charge.

Search for T-Design. He's selling a Sport button memory module that will take care of the problem.

"For now, it does NOT remember [ Sport ] on '17+ cars (991.2 and 718) where steering wheel **** installed. If your 991.2 or 718 car have SPORT button in the center console - Memory Module will remember it. **** on the will - memory module won't work for [ Sport ]. We are looking for development cars near Michigan to work on this issue. A/S/S and PSE remembered on all models."

Exactly the reason I asked. I coded A/S/S as always off on our 335i. It will only become active when I switch the car from Normal or Sport to Econ mode..which I rarely do.

It will however still restart the car for me super quick if I accidentally stall it (manual), which I find pretty cool... I can look innocent and go on my merry way pretending that did *not* just happen - nobody stalled, move along ;-)
(ok I did it twice in 6 months, when it was new to me)

The memory module has has made me forget all about it. It’s as if the car was never equipped with it. Just as God intended.

I have two Merc`s with stop start deactivated, this deactivation method takes 5 minutes and works on Merc`s, BMW`s Jag`s and many other makes, with stop start you also have smart charging for regeneration, together these two systems give a small saving in fuel, the problem with smart charging is it only allows the battery to be charged up to around 75% under engine power the rest has to come from regeneration if there is any, this charging regime often leads to a near flat battery.
To get rid of both ( if same as Merc`s and other makes) is to disconnect the small sensor on the negative lead of the main starter battery, There should be NO CEL and the car should drive normally, smart charging will revert to a charging regime pre stop/start, of between 13.8 and 14.2 volts, the battery will now get a full charge, try it, if not happy just reconnect the sensor. Link below is discussing this subject. You don`t need the sensor or smart charging, it`s just for Porsche to get within emission targets, the car owner gets little or no benefit from this system, my Merc`s are running fine without it, they have both passed MOT`s within the last few months. With the sensor disconnected there is no need to code the battery, as the EMU does not now know the SOC of the battery it charges at default charge as explained. For a lead acid battery (AGM) to remain healthy it needs to regularly charged to 100%, a lessor charge will shorten it`s life.
