Default Sport Techno wheel symmetry/direction

Question about the Sport Techno wheel. We know the differing widths for front vs. rear, but I was also curious about the rim face design. Each of the 5 spokes has a raised part and recessed part. Because the rim face design is the same on all 4 wheels, either the raised or recessed part will be "leading", depending on if the wheel is on the right or left side, correct? Does this bother the OCD folks out there?

See attached illustration - maybe some wheel experts can chime in with more precise terminology.

Very good question. I have always assumed recessed leading all around. Makes sense..

If you've always seen "recessed" leading... does that mean you've only seen the right sides of cars with these wheels? Wouldn't the left sides be "raised" leading?

Someone mentioned this months ago, that this is going to drive some people nuts, the wheel being asymmetrical. Not coming in left and right side versions, yes, it looks different on the left than the right. Not the only asymmetrical Porsche wheel. Not so noticeable to get much mention. Once you get over the "oh didn't notice that before" reaction it will probably only interest the folks who have already added it to their memorized list of asymmetrical Porsche wheels.

I let this go when the 'Turbo Twists' came out in '96.

Porsche has had asymmetric wheel designs ever since.

Default Accident or design?

Has Porsche ever commented whether this was accident or by design?

In my earlier post I had stated "always assumed" not "always seen".

This would in fact probably drive me insane. Thank heavens for my Classic rims..

Yes, it bothers me. I had a Taurus SHO way back when with similarly designed wheel, except those on a $30K car were in fact directional. The recessed part of the spoke lead the way on both sides.

Bummer about this. I really wish they were directional.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll still get these wheels. There isn't a clear winner to me among the OEM choices, so the weight/width factor breaks the tie for me here. The asymmetry does bother me, but not that much, so maybe this is a proof that I don't have serious OCD

That's pretty much my thinking as well. Another tie breaker: easiest to clean. Third: they look great painted.
