Do Dealers make great deals in December? $24k off sticker?
Hey all,
I was looking in the 997 forum and came across this post:
It is not a bad deal but you may be able to get a brand new one with a bit more money in late December. I get daily emails from all my local Dealers with heavy discounts of up to $24K off sticker, trying to make room for new inventory.
I say look into new cars on special, hopefully you can find one with full factory warranty......and that new car smell.
Now, here in Dallas, the best I have heard is about 5% off a new 2012 or 2013 991.
Anyone know of any dealers offering deals like $24k off sticker? I was planning on buying a 2009 or 2012 911 but if I can spend a little more and get a 991 that is a no brainer.
I found a dealer out of state that has the car I want. New 2012 991 with sticker price of $112,000. They have it marked for $99,999 and I offered $90k. No response from them yet but that would be $22k off sticker.
Curious to what others here have seen. Thanks!

I wouldn't take railbird gossip too seriously. A car does lose a little market value when the calendar year rolls past it's model year, so $100k for a $112k sticker is believable this late in December. But don't feel cheated if all you get to sweeten that deal is a free car wash or one of those little containers to hold a bottle of Mobil One against the trunk side with Velcro.
Basically, if it's a car you want, buy it. A few thousand one way or the other won't affect your pleasure unless you obsess about it.

I bought mine when the dealer had a big inventory and got 5% off sticker for a 2013. You have to find a car that fits your desires though, I got lucky. The only thing mine didn't have that I wanted was sport exhaust, but I can have that added by the dealer.

I can only speak from experience, but if you are willing to put up with the hassles of purchasing out of state you can save a lot! I custom orderedd a 2013 C4S 991 and got a much better deal than anything with in a 100 miles of my home. That being said you would be hard pressed to get a 2012 991 for more than a 10% even if it had been sitting on the lot for the last 11 months. Good luck and remember if it sounds to good to be true it is!

I can believe $24K off a heavily optioned leftover 2012 991, but I think your asking $22K off of a $112K car is too much. That said, from what's been reported in various places, I'd be willing to bet there's some trunk money on 12's that brings dealer cost down below invoice, so they can sell them off at huge discounts. I'd think you might get that one down to $98Kish. 5-7% off a 2013 lot car sounds doable in most regions.

Gruson that's a 10.7% discount on the 991 ($99,999), that's actually not a bad deal at all. If it's what you want, (be careful here though as discounts tend to "blind" us a bit as to what it was we were really looking for), then get it! Early Christmas present to yourself!!

Years ago I had a friend that was a new car salesman. According to him the best time to buy a current year car was in Dec. and even better was Dec. 24th. The salesmen are trying to make quota in a slow month, the new models are in or arriving very shortly and they don't want the inventory hit come Jan. 1st.

The dealer markup on a 981 is 10% give or take a tenth of a percent. So the dealer sold the car for 4% under inventory? That's hard to believe given the robust sales of the 981, unless the car was a demo woth a couple K miles on the odometer.
