I can understand why the dealer is asking for 20K down, because my car was obtained from a special order that was canceled at the time of delivery. I saved quite a bit from his cancellation.
20% average security deposit is ok if you truly want the car with the options that you have specified.
Just my $.02

Hehe thanks for following up. I actually started another thread here with some minor option changes after consulting with Sascha Glaeser:

https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7334...endations.html

Basically I deleted the electronic logbook, added carpets to deviating black and therefore removed the fuse box covers in leather, and switched the stainless steel door sills to carbon fiber for a more consistent look. Oh and I removed the Porsche crest on the storage compartment lid and went with the Rear center tunnel in leather with decorative stitching instead for a "cleaner" and "classier" look. Oh and added the free smoker's package, although I don't smoke!

I haven't followed up with my dealer for a few days now but I suspect my order has locked. He gave me a build date of Feb 18, so hopefully I'll be getting delivery sometime at the end of March / beginning of April!

Unfortunately it looks like the painted option on the sport technos are still not available; I might just have to go aftermarket with that.

Oh and I ended up going with another dealer who requested $5k deposit but I talked him down to $3k. $20k seems pretty outrageous in retrospect.
